Flux 2 Pro to FLUX 3 Image at 1K: 28% higher after Oct 8
Flux 2 Pro bills $0.0375 per image on Sume. A FLUX 3 Image 1K render lists at $0.048 on fal after October 8, 28% more; $0.024 during the promotion, 36% less.

If you generate with Flux 2 Pro on Sume at $0.0375 per image and consider moving to FLUX 3 Image at 1K, the price changes by 28% upward after October 8: $0.048 against $0.0375. During the launch promotion at $0.024 the move is 36% cheaper.
The two prices are not on the same footing. One is a Sume billed price (list x 1.25) and the other is a fal list price. This page puts them side by side and says what the comparison does and does not show.
The two prices
The fal FLUX 3 Image page gives a 1K (1 MP) image as $0.024 at the launch rate and $0.048 once the 50% discount ends on October 8. Flux 2 Pro on Sume is a flat per-image row in the Image API docs rule of list price times 1.25.
FLUX 3 Image is not in the Sume catalog as of 2026-10-07, so the Sume figure is the price of staying where you are, and the fal figure is the price of calling FLUX 3 Image where it is sold.
| Option | Per image | Per 1,000 | Per 10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flux 2 Pro on Sume | $0.0375 | $37.50 | $375.00 |
| FLUX 3 Image 1K, promo to Oct 8 | $0.024 | $24.00 | $240.00 |
| FLUX 3 Image 1K, after Oct 8 | $0.048 | $48.00 | $480.00 |
What the percentages mean for a month
At 10,000 images a month the post-promo move costs $105.00 more ($480.00 against $375.00). At 1,000 images it costs $10.50 more. Both are small beside the cost of a bad creative direction, so the question is really whether FLUX 3 Image gives you something Flux 2 Pro does not.
BFL describes FLUX 3 Image as supporting up to ten reference images, bounding-box layout edits and native 2K and 4K output. If you use none of those, the price rise buys nothing you need.
What the comparison leaves out
The fal 1K figure covers one megapixel. If you generate at larger sizes, the FLUX 3 price depends on the tier, and the Flux 2 Pro row on Sume does not change with size in the catalog. A fair comparison needs the same size on both sides and the price read from the vendor page at the time of purchase.
It also leaves out quality. Neither price tells you whether FLUX 3 Image is better for your prompts. Run twenty of them through both and look, as the bake-off arithmetic in the related posts shows: the cost of the test is a few dollars.
Checking the numbers yourself
Both sides are easy to verify. For Sume, call GET /v1/images/models/{id}/endpoints and read cost_usd, which the API documents as the amount charged, margin included. For FLUX 3 Image, open the fal page on the day you buy and read the price for the exact resolution tier you will use. A price comparison written on October 7 is stale by the time the promotion ends.
A decision rule
- Stay on Flux 2 Pro if your images do not need box edits, ten references or native 4K.
- Use the promotion for a test before October 8: 1,000 images at 1K cost $24.00.
- Re-run the arithmetic after October 8 with the $0.048 figure.
- Check the fal page for the current price before you commit to a volume.
