MakeUGC API Starter $99 for 2,000 credits vs Sume avatar seconds
MakeUGC API Starter is $99 a month with 2,000 credits. The same $99 on Sume buys 13 Plus 30-second avatar clips at $7.35 each, or 17 on Standard at $5.52.
The short answer
MakeUGC's API Starter plan lists $99 a month for 2,000 credits, 500+ AI creators and fast 2-minute processing. On Sume, $99 buys 13 Plus 30-second avatar clips (13 x $7.35 = $95.55) or 17 Standard ones (17 x $5.52 = $93.84). Credits are MakeUGC's unit, so this post converts only the Sume side; see MakeUGC's pricing page (read 2026-10-04) for what a credit buys per video.
What MakeUGC lists
The page lists three app plans at $59, $79 and $149 a month with 500, 1,000 and 2,000 credits, each up to 10 parallel. The API plans sit above them. I did not find a per-video credit cost in the pages I read, so the table sticks to what is printed.
| Plan | Price per month | Credits | Also listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| API Starter | $99 | 2,000 | 500+ AI creators, 2-minute processing |
| API Pro | $299 | 6,000 | 5x concurrency |
The Sume side in whole clips
Sume's avatar talking video takes a script or ordered scenes and returns an MP4 once the job completes. Duration is estimated from the script and must land between 4 and 60 seconds. Aspect ratios are 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 (default), 4:3 and 16:9 at 720p.
| Budget | Standard $5.52 | Plus $7.35 | Max $16.50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $99 | 17 clips ($93.84) | 13 clips ($95.55) | 6 clips ($99.00) |
| $299 | 54 clips ($298.08) | 40 clips ($294.00) | 18 clips ($297.00) |
How to compare them
Subscriptions bundle a creator library and an editor, while Sume sells the render by the second and you choose the avatar through a prompt, a profile or a photo. Creating one costs a flat $0.95. If you need fixed creators and a UI, a subscription fits. If you want a render step inside your own pipeline and nothing billed in months you do not use it, per-second is simpler. Parallelism differs too: Sume's accepted job counts by plan are in the batch limits post.
Parallelism and a cheap first test
MakeUGC lists up to 10 parallel on its app plans and 5x concurrency on API Pro. Sume runs 4 jobs at once on Pro with 20 queued, and 20 at once on Scale with 100 queued. Before committing to either, run one 4-second Standard clip on Sume for $0.736 and check the face, the voice and the framing. Only then multiply up. If your balance runs low, a submit returns 402 insufficient_credits, as the errors and credits docs describe.
One-line method
Write your usual clip length, multiply by Sume's per-second rate, then compare with the vendor's credits-per-video figure from its own page. If it is not published for your length, ask before you buy.
