Luma Variants placements: which ratios a Sume image can hit

Luma Variants outputs 9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 6:5 and 16:9. Sume's image ratio list has four of those five; 6:5 is not in it, so plan a crop for that slot.

Luma Variants builds an approved static ad into five placements: Story 9:16, Portrait 4:5, Square 1:1, Medium Rectangle 6:5 and Widescreen 16:9. Sume's image aspect_ratio list includes 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9, but not 6:5. For that fifth slot, generate at a nearby ratio such as 5:4 and crop afterwards.

Placements are from Luma's launch post; ratios from Sume's Image API docs, read 2026-10-01.

Which placements match the Sume list?

The list in the docs is 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, 4:5, 5:4, 1:2, 2:1, 1:4, 4:1, 1:8, 8:1, 9:21 and 21:9, plus auto for provider choice. A model only accepts values its catalog lists, so read supported_parameters before pinning a ratio.

Luma Variants placements checked against Sume's ratio list, read 2026-10-01.

What is 4:5 on Sume?

The docs say 4:5 is Instagram portrait, 1080 by 1350, and not 4:3. Do not put custom pixels on size: it is a shorthand for a resolution tier, so keep the ratio in aspect_ratio.

Should I resize or regenerate?

Luma says Variants keeps logo, headline and CTA intact while layout and copy adapt. On Sume, a new ratio is a new image job, so the layout is redrawn from your prompt. Send the master as a reference with aspect_ratio set to the target. If the ratio should match the master instead, use auto, which the docs recommend for edit calls.
