LinkedIn targeted organic video post: the audience must exceed 300

A targeted organic LinkedIn post needs a target audience larger than 300 members. Check it with the Audience Counts API before rendering variants.

The audience of a targeted organic LinkedIn post has to be greater than 300 members. The Posts API page says to measure it first with the Audience Counts API, passing your organization URN in the followedCompanies facet so the count covers only your followers. In the page's example the response returns total: 380, which clears the bar. If the count is 300 or fewer, plan for an untargeted post.

Why this matters before you render variants

It is tempting to cut one video per region or seniority. A Timeline render is billed by output minutes rounded up (see the API rate card), so a variant is cheap, but a variant that can never be targeted is still wasted work. Count the audience first, then render only the variants that pass.

A variant in Timeline 1.0 can change the voice spine, the order of video[] slots or the soundtrack while the footage stays the same. Use POST /v1/timeline-1.0/plan to check a body first; it is unbilled and returns duration_seconds and segment_count.

The post itself

The targeted example is the same video post body used for any organic post, with targetEntities filled in: one object holding arrays such as geoLocations and seniorities of URNs. The page's example targets one geo URN and one seniority URN. Facet names and URN lists come from LinkedIn's standardized data, not from Sume.

Sume does not call the Audience Counts or Posts APIs. It only produces the MP4 that you attach, so the 300-member rule is checked entirely on the LinkedIn side.
