LinkedIn Page cover 1512x256 and logo 400x400, 3 MB cap
LinkedIn Page covers are 1512x256 and logos 400x400 recommended, PNG or JPEG under 3MB. Crop a Sume 1536x512 image to 1512x256 with the exact box.

A LinkedIn Page cover image is 1512x256 pixels, which is both the minimum and the recommended size, and the logo is recommended at 400x400 with a 268x268 minimum. Images must be PNG or JPEG and at most 3MB. Sume cannot request 1512x256 directly, because GPT custom sizes stop at a 3:1 ratio, so generate 1536x512 and crop.
Page tab specs
Both rows come from LinkedIn's Page image specification table. The same page lists Life tab images, covered in a separate post.
| Module | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Logo image | 268x268 | 400x400 |
| Cover image | 1512x256 | 1512x256 |
| File type | PNG or JPEG | PNG or JPEG |
| Maximum file size | 3MB | 3MB |
The exact crop
1512 divided by 256 is about 5.9, far wider than the 3:1 limit. A 1536x512 request is exactly 3:1 (786,432 pixels, both edges multiples of 16), so it is allowed. Its width is 24 pixels more than 1512 and its height is twice 256.
A centred crop box is therefore left 12, top 128, right 1524, bottom 384. No scaling is needed, so no sharpness is lost.
The script
import asyncio, io
from PIL import Image
async def main():
img = Image.open("cover-1536x512.png").convert("RGB")
cover = img.crop((12, 128, 1524, 384)) # 1512 x 256, centred
assert cover.size == (1512, 256)
for quality in (92, 85, 75, 65):
buf = io.BytesIO()
cover.save(buf, "JPEG", quality=quality, optimize=True)
if buf.tell() <= 3_000_000:
with open("page-cover.jpg", "wb") as f:
f.write(buf.getvalue())
print(quality, buf.tell())
return
raise SystemExit("over 3 MB at every quality")
asyncio.run(main())LinkedIn's own tips
LinkedIn adds practical advice on the same page. Your cover may be adjusted to fit the screen, which can trim it horizontally or vertically, so keep text light and keep key details away from the edges, especially the lower-right corner.
The logo is shown on both light and dark backgrounds, and a transparent logo appears on a white background. Test it on both. LinkedIn also prefers a high-resolution JPEG to a PNG for best resolution.
For a transparent logo, the Sume docs say ChatGPT Image 2.5 supports background auto, transparent or opaque.
Before you upload
- Cover is exactly 1512x256.
- File is at most 3,000,000 bytes, the stricter reading of 3MB.
- Faces and text sit in the centre, not the lower-right.
