LinkedIn ad image size and AI-generated images in Campaign Manager

LinkedIn single image ads accept JPG, PNG or GIF up to 5 MB, and Campaign Manager has its own AI image tool. Which format to set on a Sume upload.

LinkedIn's single image ad page lists JPG, PNG or GIF at 5 MB, and says Campaign Manager can build ad images from AI-generated images, templates (1:1 or 4:5), a media library, Shutterstock, or a direct upload of up to 5 images. A Sume image is the direct-upload route: set output_format to png or jpeg, because LinkedIn does not list WEBP.

LinkedIn details are from its Help page, read 2026-10-01. Sume parameters are from the image docs.

What can I use in Campaign Manager?

Besides AI-generated images, the page lists AI-powered ad variations, editing with Microsoft Designer, and brand kits. These are LinkedIn features, separate from Sume.

Which format should I set on Sume?

The image docs list png, jpeg, jpg and webp for output_format, and the Images API catalog for some models lists png, jpeg and webp. Since LinkedIn lists JPG, PNG or GIF, choose png or jpeg and avoid webp.

Which ratio fits?

The docs note that 4:5 is Instagram portrait (1080x1350), not 4:3, and it is a native ratio. LinkedIn's vertical image is 4:5 too; the details are in the 4:5 post.

Should I use LinkedIn's AI tool or upload?

Either works inside the rules above. Uploading keeps the image under your own review and file naming. Check the file size against 5 MB before upload, since the Help page lists that cap.
