A 30-second Kling 3.0 Motion Control job reserves 30 x $0.1575 = $4.725 on Sume, shown in the catalog as a maximum of 473 cents. The catalog's reservation policy says the hold is captured on completion and refunded for failed or pre-generation canceled jobs. Your balance must cover the reservation when you submit.

The reservation range

The catalog row for kling/3.0/motion-control lists a typical estimate of 79 cents (5 seconds), a minimum of 16 cents (1 second) and a maximum of 473 cents (30 seconds). The reservation is stored in USD micros and rounded up to cents for balance compatibility.

The refund rule has a boundary worth knowing. The catalog describes refunds for failed and pre-generation canceled jobs, and capture on completion. A job that you cancel after generation has started is not described as refunded in that row, so cancel early if the wrong clip went in.

5 s5$0.787579

What to check before a batch

Add up the reservations for everything you will submit together, not the typical estimate. Ten 30-second jobs reserve 10 x $4.725 = $47.25 at once. If your balance is $40, the later submits are the ones at risk. The errors and credits page lists the shortfall response as 402 insufficient_credits.

For a daily pipeline, hold a balance equal to the reservation sum plus a margin. With three 30-second jobs a day you need 3 x $4.725 = $14.175 free at submit time, and the same amount comes back to the balance or is captured depending on the outcome.

  • Use one Idempotency-Key per logical job.
  • Retry a lost response with the same key, not a new one.
  • Cancel before generation starts if you submitted the wrong clip; the catalog says pre-generation cancellations are refunded.

Rounding to cents

Because the hold rounds up, a 12-second clip shows 189 cents although its exact price is $1.89, and the 30-second job shows 473 cents against $4.725. The difference is half a cent on the largest job; for budgeting use the exact arithmetic and expect balance checks in cents.

The catalog also lists an applied estimate next to the base one: 84 cents for the typical 5-second clip and 500 cents for 30 seconds, because it adds an agent fee of 5.5 percent for agent-driven calls. Direct API budgets can use the base figures in this post; if you call through an agent or MCP, check the applied column in the catalog and budget against that.

One last planning habit: keep the reserved total and the captured total as two separate numbers in your reports. The first tells you how much balance you need on hand; the second is what the month actually cost, and the gap between them is the refunds on failed or canceled jobs.
