Instagram carousel with AI characters: label wording, 10-image set

The Instagram label description says images may feature AI-generated characters. What that means for a carousel built with Sume Images, and the n limit.

If your carousel images show a generated character, expect the AI label wording to apply. Social Media Today reports that Instagram's "AI generated profile" label describes the profile's images as possibly featuring AI-generated characters (read 2026-10-02). A carousel of Sume Images stills of one invented character fits that description, so plan to label the profile, and use any post-level label Instagram offers.

How many images can one call make?

POST /v1/images takes n from 1 to 10, so one call can fill a ten-image set. It also takes aspect_ratio and resolution. The Images docs say 4:5 is Instagram portrait, and that exact 1080 by 1350 is a documented post-step on one model, so check your model's ratios in GET /v1/catalog first.

Will the character stay the same across images?

The docs page does not promise identity across images in one call, so check each frame by eye. If a consistent character matters, create an Avatar 1.0 and render stills or clips from it instead, then compare faces across the set before posting.

What is the labeling rule of thumb?

If a viewer could take a generated person for real, label. The report does not give a per-post rule beyond the profile label, so check Instagram's own page for post-level options. Keep the job ids with the post record.

Use metadata to tag each image with the post it belongs to. That gives you a lookup from a published carousel back to the jobs that made it.

What should you check before you upload the set?

Look at the first image at feed size. Check hands, text and logos in each frame. Then confirm the count matches the post you plan. Record the job ids and post date next to the set.
