An indie skincare brand can get a launch kit from one packshot by calling three Sume catalog Formats: sume-formula-texture-hero for a macro texture still, sume-serum-drip for a pipette-and-droplet still, and sume-beauty-studio for a studio reel with a model. Each one is a call to POST /v1/formats/sume/{slug}/runs.

The stills are images and the reel is a video. Sume's own descriptions mark the still Formats as not for animated deliverables, so do not expect motion from them.

What each Format makes

Sume describes sume-formula-texture-hero as a macro cream, gel, oil, foam or serum around an accurate package, for ingredient or texture-led stills. sume-serum-drip is a macro pipette, one controlled droplet, translucent formula and accurate bottle packaging, for a serum launch or ingredient-led still. sume-beauty-studio is a model, a cosmetic product and soft editorial light on a vanity or tabletop, for a skincare or makeup launch reel.

Send the packshot, not a description

Packaging accuracy is the hard part for a small brand, and a text-only brief invites invented labels. Attach a clean packshot (up to 30 images are allowed on a run) and say what must not change: the logo, the colors, the claim text. Do not ask a Format to put ingredients or percentages on the pack that are not on your real label.

Send a distinct Idempotency-Key per call, and a spend cap on each.

curl -sS -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/formats/sume/sume-serum-drip/runs" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: serum-launch-drip-001" \
  -d '{
    "instruction": "4:5 still for Instagram. Keep the bottle label exactly as in the attached packshot. No extra text.",
    "attachments": [ { "type": "input_image", "image_url": "https://example.com/serum-packshot.jpg" } ],
    "generation_spend_cap_usd": 5
  }'

Read the Format before you call it

Use GET /v1/formats/sume/{slug} first. It returns the description and an io profile with the input and output kind, so you know whether a Format wants a product, an image or a URL. showcase shows an example that the Format really produced, which helps you see the look before you spend.

Claims are your job

A launch kit for skincare sits under cosmetics advertising rules in most markets. The Formats make pictures and video, not compliant copy. Do not add claims such as treats, cures or clinically proven unless you can prove them, and check every frame of the packaging against your real label before you post.
