Ideogram 4.5 low, medium, high: a four-image call costs $0.15 to $1.10

Ideogram 4.5 quality sets the price, not the size. Sume billed cost per image and per n=4 call at low, medium and high, with a draft-then-final plan.

On Ideogram 4.5 the quality field is the price dial. The Sume Image API page gives the list price by quality, the same for all sizes: $0.03 low, $0.06 medium, $0.22 high per image. Sume bills list times 1.25, and medium is the default when you omit quality.

Resolution (1K or 2K) does not change that price. So the sensible knob for iteration is quality, not size.

Per image and per four-image call

n is capped by a per-model ceiling in the catalog, and 4 is the ceiling for Ideogram 4.5 in the repo's catalog data.

medium (default)0.060.0750.30

Draft low, finish high

Ideogram's own docs describe an edit path where references turn the text into an edit instruction. You can use the same idea for cost control: draft four options at low ($0.15 total), pick one, then run it once at high as an edit with the draft as the first reference ($0.275). The pair costs $0.425 billed, against $1.10 for a four-image high call.

Caveat

The edit pass is a new generation, not a refinement of identical pixels, so compare it with the draft before you commit to the plan. Prices are list-based and the usage.cost field in each response shows the billed amount for that call.

How this was checked

Vendor facts come from the pages listed in the sources, read on 2026-10-05. Sume facts come from the Image API docs and the catalog code on main on the same date. Catalogs and limits change, so read the descriptors from GET /v1/images/models before you pin a number in production code.
