Short answer

$149 buys 809 seconds of Sume Avatar 1.0 video at standard, which is 13.5 minutes, 608 seconds at plus and 270 seconds at max. HeyGen's pricing page lists Business at $149 per month with 1,500 credits, a 60-minute video length, 4K, and five or more custom avatars. The page does not turn credits into seconds, so the comparison below is what the same money buys on Sume, not a claim about HeyGen's output.

The Sume arithmetic

Divide $149 by each per-second rate and round down to whole seconds. The product image surcharge is not included; it would add $0.010, $0.013 or $0.030 per second.

A team of five on Sume

Sume has no seat price on the API rate shown here; you pay for avatar creation and video seconds. A five-person team with five avatars pays 5 x $0.95 = $4.75 to create them. If each makes four 30-second clips at plus, that is 20 clips, 600 seconds and 600 x $0.245 = $147.00, so the month costs $151.75. That is close to the HeyGen Business price, with a different mix of features and limits.

  • Sume: per-second billing, 720p, jobs of 4 to 60 seconds.
  • HeyGen Business: flat monthly price, 4K, team features listed on its page.
  • Compare using your own count of finished seconds.

Where each is stronger

If your team needs collaboration tools, SCORM export or LMS integrations, those are on HeyGen's page and not part of the Sume API. If your team needs avatar video created from code, with job polling and webhooks, and pays only for what it renders, the Sume API fits. Resolution also matters: Sume Avatar 1.0 is 720p today.

A word on how to compare fairly. A flat plan is cheaper per second when you use it fully, and more expensive when you do not. Track one month of finished seconds before you commit either way. If most months are under about 800 seconds at standard, the Sume figure above is within reach of the HeyGen price even for a team; if you ship far more than that, ask whether a plan with a larger allowance fits better. Retakes count as seconds on Sume, and the preview route is how you keep them down. Also remember the product image surcharge: if your team's clips show a product, add $0.010, $0.013 or $0.030 per second at standard, plus and max, so 600 seconds at plus becomes 600 x $0.258 = $154.80 rather than $147.00.
