Short answer

$29 buys 157 whole seconds of Sume Avatar 1.0 video at the standard tier, 118 seconds at plus and 52 seconds at max. HeyGen's pricing page lists a Creator plan at $29 per month with 600 credits. HeyGen does not state a seconds figure for those credits on that page, so this post does not convert them. It shows what the same $29 buys on Sume so you can place your own expected usage next to it.

The arithmetic

Sume prices Avatar 1.0 talking video per second with a fixed rate per tier. The rates are $0.184 at standard, $0.245 at plus and $0.55 at max, with no product image. Divide $29 by each rate and round down to whole seconds, because a request is billed on its estimated duration.

What HeyGen lists for Creator

The HeyGen pricing page lists Creator at $29 per month, with 600 credits, voice cloning, 1080p, and a video length of 30 minutes. It lists the Free plan at 1 minute per video and the Pro plan at $49 per month with 1,000 credits and 4K.

Where the comparison stops

The two products are priced differently: a monthly plan with credits against a pay-as-you-go rate per second. Sume has no monthly subscription for the API rate shown here, and Sume Avatar 1.0 renders at 720p, which is lower than the resolution HeyGen lists. If you need 1080p or 4K output, Sume's 720p is a real limit. If you need a few short clips a month, paying per second can cost less than a flat plan; if you generate long videos, the HeyGen page lists 30 minutes per video and Sume caps a job at 60 seconds.

  • Sume: 4 to 60 seconds per job, 720p, no monthly commitment.
  • HeyGen Creator: $29 per month, 1080p, 30 minute video length per its page.
  • Check what your own usage is before you compare plans.

A way to decide

Count the seconds of finished video you ship in a typical month. If it is below about 157 seconds, the standard tier on Sume costs less than $29 for the same time. Above that, a flat plan may be cheaper. The break-even changes with the tier: at plus it is 118 seconds and at max 52 seconds. Remember that retakes cost seconds too, so add a margin for them before you decide.

A useful habit is to preview first. An Avatar video preview returns first-frame stills before the full render, and you can pick a cheaper or better tier for the final video without making a new preview. That keeps experiments out of the expensive tier.

Example month

Suppose you make four 20-second clips a month. That is 80 seconds. At standard it costs 80 x $0.184 = $14.72, at plus 80 x $0.245 = $19.60, and at max 80 x $0.55 = $44.00. At standard and plus, that is under $29.
