The European Commission page on the transparency code says that by the end of July 2026 about 190 organisations had signed it. Adherence is voluntary. Signatories can rely on its measures to demonstrate compliance, and the obligations it supports apply from 2 August 2026.

What the page lays out

The final code was published on 10 June 2026, after a first draft on 17 December 2025 and a second on 3 March 2026. Section 1 is for providers and covers machine-readable marking and detectability. Section 2 is for deployers and covers deepfake disclosure and AI text on public-interest matters. The page was last updated 31 July 2026.

Which side are you on

A team that runs a generator through an API and publishes the output is usually a deployer of what it publishes, though who counts as provider or deployer depends on the facts and the text of the law. This is not legal advice. The Commission page is the place to read the allocation.

What to keep

Signing is one path. The other is a record that shows what you labeled and when. A Sume job id and artifact URL per published clip give you that anchor. See the code versus the guidelines and the evidence log.
