Working out the DIY chain

Transcription: 10 minutes x $0.01 = $0.10. Speech: assuming about 1,500 words at 6 characters each, 9,000 characters x $0.0475 / 1,000 = $0.4275. Total $0.5275.

Video inspect can transcribe a clip at $0.01 per audio minute, with a 600-second hint maximum, as the Video inspect docs describe.

What the chain does not do

  • No translation step is priced here; bring your own translated script.
  • No lip-sync or timing match to the original speaker.
  • No voice cloning; Sume's TTS catalog has no cloning API.
  • A 10-minute source is exactly the STT job maximum.

When the cheap route is enough

Voiceover over a screen recording or slides tolerates loose timing. A talking head does not.
