Do Microsoft Advertising video ads run in Copilot? Eligible ad types
Ads in Copilot are built from your text and image assets; the eligible list names multimedia, product and logo search ads, not video. Sume makes the 15 s clip.

Microsoft's page on ads in Copilot does not list video ads among the types that serve there. It says ads in Copilot are created automatically from your campaign's existing assets, including text and images, that all eligible campaign and ad types are opted in, and that advertisers cannot opt out. The eligible list names Multimedia ads, Product ads (Shopping and Performance Max serving Product ads), Search ads with a logo, and two vertical types: Property promotion ads and Tours and Activities ads. Online Video and Premium Streaming are not in it.
That is from About ads in Copilot, read on 2026-10-03, with video details from About online video ads and About Premium Streaming campaigns. "Not listed" is not a statement that video never appears; it is what the page says today, and the page offers no video-in-Copilot placement to plan around. The Sume side comes from its video generation and video inspect docs.
Which Microsoft ad types can appear in Copilot?
The page frames the eligible set by asset, not by format preference. Rich, feed-based and image-led types give Copilot more to match to a conversation, and the page says the best way to increase exposure is Performance Max, which gives Copilot the greatest number of assets and variables. Search ads need a logo to be eligible, and image extensions are recommended.
Targeting still applies: negative keywords match in Copilot as they do on the Microsoft Advertising Network, and there are no Copilot-specific metrics yet, so you cannot read a Copilot line in reporting.
| Ad type | Eligible in Copilot | What the page asks for |
|---|---|---|
| Multimedia ads | Yes | Images; richer formats improve the chance of showing |
| Product ads (Shopping, Performance Max) | Yes | Product feed assets |
| Search ads | Only with a logo extension or automated business logo | Logo; image extensions recommended |
| Property promotion; Tours and Activities | Yes | Vertical feeds |
| Online Video, Premium Streaming | Not on the list | Not applicable |
Is the Copilot that makes my video the same one?
No, and the names collide. Separately from where ads show, Microsoft's video pages say that when you create an Online Video or Premium Streaming ad you can add Recommended videos that Copilot generates. These are 15-second, three-star videos assembled from the images on your Final URL, with text overlays and sound, rated three-star when the page's images are higher resolution, in horizontal or vertical. In the editor you can change the business name, logo, text and image; if your account has Ads Studio video templates you can also change style and music.
So one Copilot is where an ad can appear (built from images and text, no video), and another is a creative assistant inside the ad builder (builds a 15-second video from your page images). The page ties the three-star rating to higher-resolution images on the Final URL.
When should I upload my own clip instead?
Use the recommended video to get a campaign live; use your own when the product needs motion the page images cannot show. A recommended video is assembled from your Final URL's images. Online Video ads accept vertical and horizontal files, and Microsoft says vertical is the best fit for gaming placements.
With Sume, ask for a 15-second 9:16 clip and check it. seedance-2 accepts 4 to 15 seconds in 16:9 and 9:16 among its listed ratios; read GET /v1/videos/models for your account's catalog. For vertical files Microsoft lists 720 x 1280 and 1080 x 1920 as resolutions at every star level, and recommends 23.976 to 30 fps. Probe the result with video inspect and frames: false: the width, height, fps and duration_seconds fields settle all of that in one call.
For a three-star Online Video file, the length must be one of 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 seconds, which is why a 15-second request lands on the list and a 14-second one would not reach three stars.

Feed it what it uses. Keep text assets accurate, supply good images (the eligible types are image-led), give search ads a logo, and consider Performance Max as the page advises. A video file will not change Copilot eligibility on the page's own list; it serves the video placements.
- Copilot placements use text and images; no opt-out exists.
- Search ads need a logo to be eligible.
- Recommended videos are 15 seconds, three-star, from your Final URL's images.
- Upload your own clip at 720 x 1280 or 1080 x 1920 when images are not enough.
