No generate_video tool for Sume in ChatGPT or Claude: Write is off

A Sume OAuth session with only mcp:read hides write and paid tools like generate_video. Reconnect with Write on, or use an API key; confirm in tools_list.

You connected Sume to a chat client, asked for a video and the model says it has no video tool. Often nothing is broken. Hosted MCP hides the tools that change data and the paid tools until the session has mcp:write, or uses an API key.

Confirm in two calls

Ask the client to call mcp_health and check that authenticated.auth_source is mcp_oauth, then tools_list. With Write off, only the read_only tools are listed, such as jobs_list, assets_get, catalog_list and crawl_scrape. If a client still calls a write tool by name, it gets insufficient_scope (MCP quickstart).

Fix it

Disconnect and reconnect the connector. On the consent page on the MCP host, switch the Write toggle on, which is off by default; Read is locked on. There is no mcp:paid scope, so Write is the only switch (OAuth and API keys). Some clients cache the tool list for a session, so start a new conversation after you reconnect.

If you wanted read-only on purpose, keep it: you can still check balance_get, browse catalog_list and read finished jobs. Grant Write only to the connector you use for generating.
