A 20-second appeal on Wan 3.0 costs $1.25 at 480p, $2.50 at 720p and $5.00 at 1080p on Sume. Publish the 720p version for web and social: it costs half the 1080p job, and the clip will be played on phones. Pin the resolution in the request, because Wan 3.0 defaults to 1080p when it is omitted.

Where the prices come from

Alibaba Cloud's Model Studio page for wan3.0-video, read 2026-10-08, lists $0.05, $0.10 and $0.20 per second for 480p, 720p and 1080p in the Singapore region. Its launch post lists the same figures and a 30-second maximum per generation. Sume lists the same three resolutions with 2 to 30 seconds and bills that list price times 1.25, rounded up to the cent per job.

What a charity appeal needs from the model

Appeals work on specifics: the actual shelter, the actual volunteers, the actual van. Wan 3.0 accepts up to 10 reference images, 5 reference videos (15 seconds in total) and 5 reference audio files (15 seconds in total) on Sume, so you can send real photos and let the model animate them. Alibaba's post says audio texture and on-screen text accuracy are still improving, so record any narration separately and set the donation URL as a text overlay.

  • Use photographs you hold the rights to, and the written consent of anyone identifiable, especially beneficiaries.
  • Do not generate fictional beneficiaries and present them as real people. Label generated scenes in the caption.
  • Keep a 480p version ($1.25) for review rounds and pay for the final once.

Submit it and read the result

Sume reserves the billable amount from your workspace USD balance when the job is submitted, then returns a polling_url. Setting resolution explicitly avoids the 1080p default. Poll the job until status is completed or failed; a completed job lists its files in unsigned_urls.

import os
import time
import requests

H = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SUME_API_KEY']}"}
body = {
    "model": "wan-3.0",
    "prompt": "A slow push-in on the scene, soft natural light",
    "duration": 20,
    "resolution": "720p",
    "aspect_ratio": "16:9",
}
r = requests.post("https://api.sume.com/v1/videos", headers=H, json=body, timeout=60)
r.raise_for_status()
url = r.json()["polling_url"]
while True:
    job = requests.get(url, headers=H, timeout=30).json()
    if job["status"] in ("completed", "failed"):
        break
    time.sleep(10)
print(job["status"], job.get("unsigned_urls"))

When to pay for 1080p

Pay for 1080p only if the clip will play on a venue screen or at a gala. For a 20-second clip the step from 720p to 1080p is $2.50. If you need a longer film, Wan 3.0 does 30 seconds in one job at $3.75 for 720p, so there is no stitching.
