Best Buy joins TikTok Shop: vertical clips for electronics
Best Buy debuts on TikTok Shop in late October with creator videos. If you sell electronics there too, here is how to make 9:16 product clips with Sume.

If you sell electronics on TikTok Shop and a big retailer is about to arrive, your answer is more and better vertical product video, made before the holiday rush. With Sume you can generate 9:16 clips with seedance-2.5 at 4 to 30 seconds, burn captions on, and keep every output tied to a job you can audit.
Best Buy's announcement says it will debut on TikTok Shop in late October 2026 with nearly 10,000 products from brands such as Oura, Bose, Dyson and Microsoft, using shoppable creator videos, a shop page, a shop tab and in-app product pages (read 2026-10-04).
What did Best Buy actually say?
The page is about discovery through creator video. It says nothing about video specs, so check TikTok Shop's current seller requirements before you upload anything.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Launch | Late October 2026 |
| Range | Nearly 10,000 products: headphones, cameras, small appliances, laptops, accessories |
| Surfaces | Shoppable creator videos, shop page, shop tab, in-app product pages |
| Fulfillment | Orders fulfilled by Best Buy; in-store or mail returns |
How do you make a vertical clip of a product?
POST /v1/videos is asynchronous: it returns a job with a polling_url. seedance-2.5 takes 4 to 30 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p, and aspect_ratio 9:16 is a supported value in the request. Describe what the product does and nothing it does not; electronics shoppers compare specs.
import os, time, requests
H = {"Authorization": "Bearer " + os.environ["SUME_API_KEY"]}
r = requests.post(
"https://api.sume.com/v1/videos",
headers=H,
json={
"model": "seedance-2.5",
"prompt": "Vertical close-up of wireless earbuds on a desk, soft daylight, slow push-in",
"duration": 8,
"resolution": "720p",
"aspect_ratio": "9:16",
},
timeout=60,
)
job = r.json()
while True:
s = requests.get(job["polling_url"], headers=H, timeout=30).json()
if s["status"] in ("completed", "failed"):
break
time.sleep(15)
print(s["status"], s.get("unsigned_urls"))
How do you add on-screen text?
A generated clip may be silent. For a silent clip, POST /v1/video-captions with authored cues (text, start and end in seconds) skips speech-to-text and burns exactly your copy. Speech-based captioning on a silent clip fails with caption_no_speech. A caption job is $0.20 per accepted job, per the docs.
What stays with you?
Accuracy and disclosure. Generated footage of a product is an illustration; it should not show features the item lacks, and TikTok Shop's own rules on AI-generated content apply, which you should read on TikTok's pages. Keep each job id with the SKU, so you can pull a clip quickly if a listing changes. Our note on researching what is trending covers the step before this one.
