Avatar video with a product image: the per-second price gap
On Sume Avatar 1.0 a product_image adds $0.010 to $0.030 per second by tier. For a 30-second spokesperson clip that is $0.30 to $0.90. Arithmetic inside.
On Sume Avatar 1.0 a talking video that includes a product image costs slightly more per second than one without. The gap is $0.010 per second on standard, $0.013 on plus and $0.030 on max, so a 30-second clip costs $0.30, $0.39 or $0.90 more with a product.
The rates
Sume's per-second Avatar Video rates, as of 2026-10-08, are charged rates in the rate card. Arithmetic for the gap is the product rate minus the no-product rate.
| Quality | No product ($/s) | With product ($/s) | Gap ($/s) | Gap over 30 s |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| standard | 0.184 | 0.194 | 0.010 | 0.010 x 30 = $0.30 |
| plus (default) | 0.245 | 0.258 | 0.013 | 0.013 x 30 = $0.39 |
| max | 0.550 | 0.580 | 0.030 | 0.030 x 30 = $0.90 |
Full 30-second totals
Multiply each per-second rate by 30:
| Quality | No product | With product |
|---|---|---|
| standard | 0.184 x 30 = $5.52 | 0.194 x 30 = $5.82 |
| plus | 0.245 x 30 = $7.35 | 0.258 x 30 = $7.74 |
| max | 0.550 x 30 = $16.50 | 0.580 x 30 = $17.40 |
What counts as a product
The docs describe product_image as optional: omit it for a productless avatar video. When you include it, Sume uses the image as a product or reference in the scene. It must be a fetchable public HTTPS URL. The scene can also be set with a prompt or a photo reference, and those fields are listed on Generate avatar video.
The one-time cost of creating the avatar itself is separate from the video cost.
When the product is worth it
For ads where the product has to be visible, the premium is small next to the base rate: about 5 percent on standard, 5 percent on plus and 5 percent on max (0.010/0.184, 0.013/0.245 and 0.030/0.550 each round to about 5 percent). If the product only appears in a separate B-roll cut, you can render the talking head without it and keep the cost lower.
Check the live rate card before budgeting a large batch, because rates are versioned.
Budgeting a batch
For a campaign, multiply the per-clip numbers. Twenty 30-second clips on plus with a product cost 20 x $7.74 = $154.80, against 20 x $7.35 = $147.00 without one, a gap of $7.80. Because the gap is small, decide on creative grounds first and use the price only as a tie-breaker.
Other costs sit outside this arithmetic: the one-time avatar creation, any standalone caption jobs, and music or timeline assembly if you add them. Inline captions do not create a separate billed caption job, according to the docs.
Rates are versioned and Sume may change them. Re-read the current rate card and the response from a small test render before you commit a large budget. The numbers above are a snapshot as of 2026-10-08.
