AppLovin Axon video specs: 9:16, 60 s, unskippable, 1 GB cap
Axon video ads are 9:16 MP4, MOV or M4V up to 60 seconds and 1 GB, and the video is unskippable. What to brief and how to cut the master with Sume.

AppLovin's Axon asset specifications call for portrait 9:16 video as MP4, MOV or M4V, at least 270 by 480, up to 60 seconds and up to 1 GB. The page also states that the video component of Axon ads is unskippable for up to 60 seconds, so every second of your cut is watched or the ad is left. Sume can produce the 9:16 clip and cut it to length.
AppLovin reprocesses every upload into an optimized mobile format, so your file is a source.
The spec table
AppLovin's separate best-practices page, read the same day, lists only the technical basics (MP4 or MOV, 9:16, 60 seconds) and gives no guidance on captions, voiceover or hooks. Anything beyond the table below is your own creative testing.
| Asset | Spec on AppLovin's page |
|---|---|
| Video file types | MP4, MOV, M4V |
| Video aspect ratio | 9:16 portrait |
| Video minimum size | 270 by 480 |
| Video length | Up to 60 seconds, unskippable |
| Video file size | Up to 1 GB |
| Axon Interactive Page image | GIF, JPEG or PNG, minimum 270 by 480, up to 10 MB, GIF up to 60 seconds |
Making the 9:16 clip
The Videos API takes an aspect_ratio and a duration in the request, and the Video Router docs publish per-model resolution and duration caps, so check the model you pick can reach the length you want. For a 60 second spot, assemble clips on Timeline 1.0, whose default output is 1080 by 1920.
Timeline renders are priced at $0.10 per output minute, rounded up, per the docs, and the audio spine can run 1 to 1800 seconds. A 45 second Axon cut therefore bills as one minute.
Honest limits
Sume does not predict whether Axon will serve a creative, and nothing in its docs sets a file-size target, so the 1 GB cap is far from a constraint you will hit at 1080 by 1920 and 60 seconds, but you should still read the size of the result before upload.
Because the video cannot be skipped, the useful check is a watch-through of the cut at the 60 second mark, not a spec check. Trim lets you shorten a long version into several lengths cheaply, and AppLovin's page does not say a specific length wins.
