What changed for people calling video APIs? Four things I could confirm from vendor pages today: Kling 4.0 is in early access with full launch set for October 2026, the Seedance 2.5 API story differs between ByteDance pages, Google's docs now recommend Omni Flash as the default video model, and Sume's catalog lists up to twelve router ids, none of them Kling 4.0 or Veo.

Video API state of play, read 2026-10-06
ItemWhat the vendor page saysAction for callers
Kling 4.0Early access since Sept 28; full launch October 2026; no API detailsWait; do not plan on an API yet
Seedance 2.5Seed: API coming soon; BytePlus headline: now availableUse seedance-2.5 on Sume or confirm BytePlus access
Gemini Omni 1.1 FlashRecommended default in Gemini API docsTest gemini-omni-flash-1.1 for 3-10 s clips
Veo 3.1Still listed by GoogleNot on Sume; call Google for it

Sources behind the table

The Kling 4.0 post gives the early access and October dates and lists 4K and 21:9. The Seed announcement says API access is coming soon, while the BytePlus page carries a headline of full availability that I could not read past. Google's video docs call Omni Flash the default choice and still list Veo 3.1.

Changes worth making

None of this is a benchmark of quality. It is a check of who says what, and on which page.

  • Read model ids from GET /v1/videos/models instead of hard-coding them.
  • Add a fallback for 404 model_not_found, since listings change.
  • Keep durations as data: Sume lists Omni at 3-10 s, Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 at up to 30 s.
  • Treat any API marked coming soon as unavailable until it has a model id and a price.

What I could not confirm

BytePlus pricing, regions and rate limits did not load for me, Kling 4.0 has no API or price on its page, and Kling's Flash tier details are not on the page I read. Those gaps are the reason the actions above lean on Sume's catalog, which is readable.

A note on dates: Kling's early access start of September 28 and its October 2026 full launch come from Kling's own post, and BytePlus and Seed dates are not stated on the pages I could read, so I have not dated them. Re-check each vendor page before you commit a launch plan to a date.
