AI Studios free: 3 videos, 720p, 1 avatar vs Sume 720p avatar video
AI Studios Free lists 3 videos, 1 minute, 1 custom avatar and 720p. Sume avatar video is also 720p and costs $0.245 per second on Plus, so 60 seconds is $14.70.
The short answer
The AI Studios Free plan lists 3 videos, 1 minute of video, 1 custom avatar and 720p output. Sume avatar video is also 720p, with a $0.95 avatar and clips billed from $0.184 per second, so 1 minute on Plus is $14.70 and on Standard $11.04. The free tier is a trial; the interesting question is when paying per second beats upgrading. Source: AI Studios pricing (read 2026-10-04) and Sume's avatar video docs.
What AI Studios lists
The page lists three tiers I compared. Free has 3 videos, 1 minute and 720p. Personal is $24 and lists 30 minutes, 3 custom avatars and 1080p. Team is $55 per seat with 60 minutes, 5 custom avatars and 4K.
| Tier | Price | Video minutes | Custom avatars | Resolution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | 1 | 720p |
| Personal | $24 | 30 | 3 | 1080p |
| Team | $55 per seat | 60 | 5 | 4K |
Resolution is the real gate
Sume documents avatar video at 720p in five aspect ratios (1:1, 3:4, 9:16 default, 4:3, 16:9). If you need 1080p or 4K from the same tool, the AI Studios paid tiers list it and Sume does not. If 720p vertical is where your video ends up, such as a phone feed, the free resolution is already the same.
A free minute versus paying for one
The free plan's 1 minute is the benchmark. Reproducing it on Sume, one 60-second Standard clip costs $11.04. Or you can make 15 clips of 4 seconds on Standard for 15 x $0.736 = $11.04, the same total, because the price is linear in seconds. Avatar creation adds $0.95. That puts a trial minute at roughly $12 on Sume, against free at AI Studios, so the free plan is the better place to test the avatar look.
| Tier | Per second | 60 seconds | Plus avatar creation $0.95 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $0.184 | $11.04 | $11.99 |
| Plus | $0.245 | $14.70 | $15.65 |
| Max | $0.55 | $33.00 | $33.95 |
Matching the free tier on Sume
The free tier lists 3 videos within 1 minute total, so think of it as three 20-second clips. On Sume Plus that is 3 x $4.90 = $14.70, plus $0.95 for the one avatar. Team lists 5 custom avatars at $55 per seat, and on Sume five avatars cost $4.75. The difference is that Sume bills nothing for a month where you make nothing, while a seat is billed regardless.
Beyond the free tier
Past the trial, AI Studios Personal's $24 for 30 minutes is cheaper per minute than any Sume tier: $0.80 per minute against $11.04 or more. What you give up is the code path and per-use billing. A team that renders 3 clips a month would pay $24 for the plan against roughly $22 on Sume Plus (3 x $7.35 for 30-second clips), so the break-even is low volume. Decide on volume, resolution and whether you need an API, using the price ladder for exact lengths.
