AI phone case art: tall ratios 9:16, 9:19.5 and 9:21 on Sume
Phone case art is tall and narrow. Compare the tall ratios Sume image models list, the prices per image, and a request that asks for a safe zone for the camera.

For phone case art ask for a tall ratio. On Sume, 9:16 is listed by most models, 9:19.5 and 9:20 by Grok Imagine ($0.025), and 9:21 by Qwen Image, Flux 2 and Recraft V4. Pick the model by price and ratio (read 2026-10-03), then crop to your print partner's exact template. This post uses only the ratios in the Sume catalog, because a case template varies by phone.
Tall ratios by model
These are the catalog values on 2026-10-03. GPT Image 2.5 lists 9:16 and, for custom pixels, allows any aspect up to 3:1 with edges that are multiples of 16.
| Model | Tall ratios listed | Price per image |
|---|---|---|
| Grok Imagine | 9:16, 9:19.5, 9:20, 1:2 | $0.025 |
| Qwen Image | 9:16, 9:21, 1:2 | $0.025 |
| Flux 2 Pro | 9:16, 9:21, 1:2 | $0.0375 |
| Recraft V4 | 9:16, 9:21, 1:2 | $0.05 |
| Nano Banana 2 | 9:16, 1:4, 1:8 | $0.10 |
| Ideogram V3 | 9:16, 10:16, 1:2, 1:3 | $0.075 |
Leave room for the camera
Most cases have a camera cutout, usually near the top corner. Ask for a design that works without the top-left tenth of the picture, or place a plain area there. You then cut the real hole in your own template; do not rely on the model to know where it goes.
A request
This asks Qwen Image for a tall abstract design at 9:21 and four variants, 4 x $0.025 = $0.10 in total.

OpenAI's image guide (read 2026-10-03) says its models can still struggle with precise text placement and clarity. For a case with a name or a quote, make the pattern first and place the type in design software where you control spelling and size.
What Sume does not do
Sume does not hold phone templates or send files to print vendors. If the model returns a ratio close to but not exactly your template, resize with Pillow or crop to the template.
- Check the final pixel size against the template.
- Keep the first render as the master and crop copies.
- A failed generation is not billed, according to the docs.
