One new bed per week for a year is 52 songs: $4.16 at Google's listed Lyria 3.5 price of $0.08 per song, and $6.50 on Sume's Music Router at a flat $0.125. The difference is $2.34 a year, 4.5 cents per bed, which is what the hosted job and the media.sume.com artifact cost on top of the vendor list price.

The Google figure is from the Gemini API pricing page (read 2026-10-08): Lyria 3.5 is $0.08 per song, Lyria 3 Clip Preview is $0.04 per song and Lyria 3 Pro Preview is $0.08 per song. The Sume figure is the flat Music price, and the Sume docs list the routable ids as sume/music-auto, lyria-3.5 and lyria-3-pro. They do not list a Clip Preview id.

What the gap pays for

The Sume docs describe what comes with the price: a job you poll at GET /v1/jobs/:id/status, an audio artifact on media.sume.com, an Idempotency-Key header, and the same job envelope as the video, TTS and Timeline jobs you will chain it with. The downstream jobs matter for a Short: Timeline render, audio split and concat are all priced at cents on the same account.

The gap does not buy a different sound. The Music docs say Music 1.0 runs on Google Lyria 3.5, and the router picks Lyria 3.5 today. If you only need a track and already run Google's API, the vendor price is lower. If the track feeds a Sume Timeline render, the extra 4.5 cents per bed is the cost of keeping it all in one place.

A caution on comparing

Do not read the table as quality or length. Google says Lyria 3.5 songs are "a couple of minutes" and controllable by prompt; the Sume docs describe full-length songs of up to a few minutes, steered by the prompt, with no duration field. The Clip Preview model at $0.04 is a different model, and Sume does not list it, so a 30-second clip on Sume is a Lyria 3.5 generation with a short prompt, at $0.125, not a half-price clip.

For a weekly Short the gap is small: $2.34 a year is the price of about 23 Timeline renders at $0.10 each.
