Creating five avatars and rendering one 45-second talking video for each costs $46.15 on Sume's standard tier: 5 x $0.95 = $4.75 for the avatars plus 225 s x $0.184 = $41.40 for the video. The plus tier brings it to $59.875 and the max tier to $128.50.

Two separate charges

Avatar creation is a one-time $0.95 per avatar. The talking video is billed per second by tier: standard $0.184, plus $0.245, max $0.55. Once an avatar is ready, you can reuse it for more videos without paying the creation fee again.

Five avatars at 45 seconds each is 225 video seconds. Standard: 225 x $0.184 = $41.40. Plus: 225 x $0.245 = $55.125. Max: 225 x $0.55 = $123.75. Add $4.75 for creation to each.

Sume avatar creation and talking video, 5 avatars x 45 s, as of 2026-10-09
TierPer secondAvatar creationVideo (225 s)Total
standard$0.1845 x $0.95 = $4.75225 x $0.184 = $41.40$46.15
plus$0.2455 x $0.95 = $4.75225 x $0.245 = $55.125$59.875
max$0.555 x $0.95 = $4.75225 x $0.55 = $123.75$128.50

Reuse is where the price falls

If each avatar gets 4 videos of 45 seconds over a month instead of one, creation is still $4.75 but video seconds quadruple to 900. On standard: 900 x $0.184 = $165.60, so total $170.35, and the creation share falls from about 10 percent to under 3 percent.

Per finished video the cost is $8.28 on standard, $11.025 on plus and $24.75 on max, plus a share of creation.

Product image surcharge

The catalog lists a higher standard rate of $0.194 per second when the video includes a product_image. For 225 seconds that is 225 x $0.194 = $43.65, which is $2.25 more than without. Submit-time reservations use exact micros and the current chunk-planned billable seconds, so long videos are held in chunks.

Decide the tier by what you need to see. Run one 10-second sample on each tier before committing a full set: $1.84, $2.45 and $5.50.

  • Standard: $0.184/s ($0.194/s with product_image)
  • Plus: $0.245/s
  • Max: $0.55/s

A second scenario

Try a shorter script. With 30-second videos instead of 45, the five avatars need 150 video seconds. Standard: 150 x $0.184 = $27.60, plus $4.75 for creation is $32.35. Plus tier: 150 x $0.245 = $36.75 + $4.75 = $41.50. A shorter video cuts the cost per avatar by a third while the creation fee stays fixed.

Reproduce the numbers

Open https://api.sume.com/v1/catalog, which needs no key, and find the entry for the product. Each model_pricing row carries price, unit, pricing_basis and the estimated, minimum and maximum cents. Multiply the unit price by your quantity and round only at the end. The catalog also has applied_* fields that include an agent fee of 550 basis points; the figures in this post use the base prices.
