12 colorway edits with Ideogram 4.5: 4, 8 or 28 cents each
Ideogram 4.5 edits the first image and takes up to 4 more as references. On Sume, 12 colorway edits cost $0.48 at low, $0.96 at medium or $3.36 at high.

To make 12 colorway variants of one product photo, send the photo as the first reference to ideogram/ideogram-v4.5 with a recolor prompt. Sume bills 4 cents per image at low quality, 8 at medium and 28 at high, so 12 edits cost $0.48, $0.96 or $3.36 (read 2026-10-08).
How the edit works
Without input_references, Ideogram 4.5 generates from text. With references it edits the first image and uses up to 4 more as references, 5 in total. Quality is low, medium or high and the default is medium; resolution is 1K or 2K. An edit without aspect_ratio keeps the shape of the source image, which is what you want for a catalog where every colorway should match the original crop.
The price per image
The Sume image docs give the Fal list price as $0.03, $0.06 or $0.22 per image by quality, for all sizes. Sume bills list x 1.25 and rounds up to a cent per request, so $0.03 x 1.25 = $0.0375 becomes 4 cents, $0.06 x 1.25 = $0.075 becomes 8 cents, and $0.22 x 1.25 = $0.275 becomes 28 cents.
| Quality | List per image | Billable per image | 12 edits |
|---|---|---|---|
| low | $0.03 | 4 cents | 48 cents = $0.48 |
| medium | $0.06 | 8 cents | 96 cents = $0.96 |
| high | $0.22 | 28 cents | 336 cents = $3.36 |
A review loop that stays cheap
Run all 12 at low, check that the logo, label text and shadow survived, then re-run only the weak ones at medium. If 3 of 12 need the upgrade, the cost is 12 x 4 + 3 x 8 = 72 cents. Use the extra reference slots for a brand swatch or a texture, not for more product angles, because the first image anchors the edit.
