Strands Decider 2B vs Cloudflare Clef for gating agent runs
Both return typed answers (yes/no, choice, score) with confidence. Compare what each vendor page says, and what stays your job when a Sume run costs money.

Both are small decision models that answer a typed question instead of writing prose. Strands Decider 2B is described on its model card with typed questions and calibrated confidence, and Cloudflare's Clef returns bounded structured outputs with probabilities. Neither page promises that a decision is right, so both need the same guard around a paid Sume run.
What each page says
The table lists only what the two pages state, plus what Sume adds. Anything else is a measurement for you to make.
| Topic | Strands Decider 2B | Cloudflare Clef |
|---|---|---|
| Answer types | Yes/no, choice and score | Yes/no, choice and score in the API example |
| Confidence | Calibrated scores, one temperature per primitive | Probabilities |
| Latency on the page | Not compared here | 38.8 ms Clef-flash, 209.3 ms Clef |
| Price on the page | Not compared here | Not disclosed |
The Sume side does not change
Put either one in the same slot: before the request, never inside it. After the yes, the Sume side is the same: Idempotency-Key, generation_spend_cap_usd, and a status poll or one terminal webhook.
Check the docs before you ship
Sume's limits and field names change faster than blog posts do. Read the linked docs pages for the current request fields before you ship, and send a dry_run or a low spend cap on your first real call.
