World Kindness Day 2026 is Friday 13 November, and a team that wants to mark it can run a "thank-you round": five colleagues each hold up a note for someone who helped them this month, and one 30-second video joins the five six-second clips with a name card on each. On Sume that is one Timeline render ($0.10) plus one caption job with authored cues ($0.20), $0.30 in total, and nobody has to speak on camera.

The date and the workplace idea come from World Kindness Day 2026 on Awareness Days, read on 2026-10-12. The Sume details come from the Timeline and video captions docs, read the same day.

What does the source suggest for workplaces?

Awareness Days says World Kindness Day is run by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of kindness organisations, and lists a workplace activity: a thank-you round where colleagues acknowledge who helped them that month. It also notes the 13th falls on a Friday this year and that the day leads straight into Anti-Bullying Week, 16 to 20 November.

How do you put the names on?

The clips are silent, so speech captions would fail with caption_no_speech. Send cues instead. Each cue has text, start and end in seconds, and Sume burns exactly that text without speech-to-text. A cue like "Thank you, Sam, for covering the late shift" from 0.5 to 5.5 seconds on each clip keeps the copy under your control.

Order matters: build the combined video first, then caption it once. A caption job covers a clip of up to 60 seconds at $0.20, so one job covers all five name cards on a 30-second render. Remember that you can send only one of script_text, words, cues and segments per job.

What does the Timeline body look like?

Import the five clips (POST /v1/media-imports) because Timeline accepts only this workspace's media.sume.com files. Declare a silent 30-second spine, then five slots that start at 0, 6, 12, 18 and 24. Fade only some of the joins: the docs refuse more than eight adjacent fades with too_many_chained_transitions, and five slots are well inside that, so a 0.25-second fade on each join is fine here.

Cost, from Sume docs read 2026-10-12
StepRateAmount
30 s silent render$0.10 per output minute, rounded up$0.10
Name cards for the whole video$0.20 per caption job up to 60 s$0.20
Total$0.30

Ask each colleague before you name them, and let the recipients see the cut first. If a card has a typo, send the corrected cues again with source_caption_id instead of a new video_url; the docs say a restyle still counts as a render, so budget $0.20 per fix.
