How do I make a winter tire changeover promo video for my garage?

A garage can make a winter tire changeover promo for $2.695 on Sume: three 6-second wan-3.0 clips at 720p ($0.75 each), a 420-character voiceover ($0.02), a music bed ($0.125), one 18-second Timeline 1.0 render ($0.10) and a caption job for the phone number and booking dates ($0.20). Rates were read on 2026-10-07.

The ad is a local-business ad, so it must do three things in 18 seconds: say what you offer, say when to book, and show how. Everything exact (the phone number, the days, the price) goes into captions. Everything emotional goes into the pictures and the voice.

Three beats, three clips

Write one clip for each job the viewer has in their head. First, the problem: a car on a cold, wet road at dusk. Second, the fix: tyres being swapped in a clean, bright bay. Third, the result: the car pulling away. Do not ask for a brand logo or a legible number plate in the prompt, since the model draws plausible shapes and not your sign. If you want your real garage on screen, use a real photo as frame_images with frame_type: first_frame and let the clip move from it.

wan-3.0 takes 2 to 30 seconds. Six seconds per beat is long enough to read the scene and short enough to keep the total at 18. At 720p each clip is $0.125 per second, rounded up to the cent per job.

Voice, bed and render

Write about 420 characters: a hook, the offer, the booking line. At $0.0475 per 1,000 characters that is $0.02 after rounding up. Generate it as wav, import everything, and render with the voice as audio.url and duration_seconds set to the measured length (about 18). The three clips are video[] slots at 0, 6 and 12 seconds. Add the music as soundtrack with duck_db between 8 and 12 so it dips under the voice, and a fade_out_seconds of 2.

The render is $0.10 per started minute and uses no model, only worker ffmpeg. Read warnings[] on the result before you publish; a padded or looped clip is a soft warning, not a failure.

Put the booking details on screen

Burn the details with a caption job and cues. Use three: the offer from 0 to 6 seconds, the booking window from 6 to 12, the phone number and address from 12 to 18. Keep each under about 40 characters so it reads at a glance. A standalone caption job is $0.20 for a video up to 60 seconds, whatever the number of cues.

Do not state savings or dates you have not confirmed. The cue text is the one place a mistake becomes public, so have the owner read it once against the booking calendar.

Make it local

A garage ad works because it is local. Name the town or the street in the voiceover, and put the address in the final caption, not in the clip. Offer a booking route that matches how your customers actually book, such as a phone number on the last caption, and say which days have capacity. Put the offer in the first three seconds, because the first caption is the one that decides whether anyone watches the other fifteen.

Reuse the structure next season. The same three beats work for a brake check, an oil change or a spring changeover. Change the three prompts and the cue text, keep the music, and the next ad costs the same as this one. Keep a small spreadsheet with the prompt, the job id and the final cost, so you know what a promo really costs you over a year.

Cost and a cheaper first pass

  • Draft the three beats at 480p first: $0.38 each, $1.14 for three.
  • Shop with two bays, two offers: reuse the music, change the voice and cues, and pay $0.32 per variant.
  • Keep each variant on its own Idempotency-Key so a retry cannot bill twice.
