What 10,000 Luma Plus credits buy in audio vs $30 on a Sume wallet
A $30 Luma Plus month is 10,000 credits: 166 hours of Whisper or 476,000 characters of voice. $30 on Sume buys more voice and music, less transcription.

If you spent a whole $30 Luma Plus month on audio, the 10,000 credits would buy about 166 hours of Whisper v3 transcription, 476,000 characters of ElevenLabs v3 voice, 400 minutes of sound effects, or 102 minutes of ElevenLabs Music. Thirty dollars on Sume's wallet buys about 631,000 characters of TTS, 240 music generations, or 50 hours of transcription at its fixed rates. So Sume is ahead on voice, Luma is ahead on transcription, and music depends on track length.
These are one-job-at-a-time comparisons: you cannot spend the same $30 on all of them.
What does each audio job use per unit?
From Luma's pricing page: Whisper v3 at 1 credit a minute, ElevenLabs v3 text to speech at 21 credits per 1,000 characters, SFX v2 at 25 credits a minute, ElevenLabs Music v1 at 98 credits a minute, audio isolation and stem separation at 4 credits a minute each, and Seed Audio 1.0 at 66 credits a minute. Sume's API pricing page lists speech-to-text at $0.01 a minute, TTS at $0.0475 per 1,000 characters and Music at $0.125 a generation.
| Job | Luma credits per unit | Luma Plus buys | Sume rate | $30 on Sume buys |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Transcription | 1 per minute | 166 hours | $0.01 per minute | 50 hours |
| Text to speech | 21 per 1,000 characters | 476,000 characters | $0.0475 per 1,000 characters | 631,000 characters |
| Music | 98 per minute | 102 minutes | $0.125 per generation | 240 generations |

| Audio isolation | 4 per minute | 2,500 minutes | not compared here | n/a |
How should I read the music row?
A Luma minute is a minute. A Sume generation is one request whose length you steer in the prompt, because the Music Router does not accept a duration field. If your tracks run around a minute each, 240 generations is roughly 240 minutes against Luma's 102. If your tracks are much shorter, the gap narrows, and for very short stings, per-minute billing is the finer unit.
Which job favours which side?
Transcription favours Luma by a wide margin: 1 credit a minute is $0.003 on Plus against Sume's $0.01. Voice favours Sume by about a quarter, since Luma's 21 credits per 1,000 characters is $0.063 against $0.0475. Music depends on track length. If you only ever need one of these jobs, price that one row, not the whole table.
- Transcription: Luma is about 3.3 times cheaper per minute.
- Voice: Sume is about 25% cheaper per 1,000 characters.
- Music: compare per finished track, not per minute.
What does the wallet change?
A Luma plan gives you a pool that resets monthly. A Sume wallet is topped up in amounts from $10 to $1,000, per its credits docs, and a job only draws on it when it runs. You pay for what you generate rather than for a monthly allowance. For occasional audio work, that difference often matters more than a few cents per unit.
What $10 on a Sume wallet buys, job by job shows the same idea at a smaller scale. The Luma pools themselves are broken down in Luma Plus, Pro and Ultra credit pools.
