Wan 3.0's watermark parameter defaults to false: and on Sume?

Alibaba's Wan 3.0 API has a watermark boolean that is off by default. What that means when you call wan-3.0 through Sume, which documents no watermark field.

Alibaba's Wan 3.0 video API has a watermark boolean, and it is off unless you turn it on. The Wan 3.0 API reference, read on 2026-10-05, gives the default as false and says that by default no watermark is added. It lists the models wan3.0-video-prime and wan3.0-video, up to 30 seconds at 30 fps, with a default duration of 5 seconds.

If you call Wan 3.0 directly, you choose whether the clip carries Alibaba's mark. If you call it through Sume as wan-3.0, the question becomes: what does Sume expose?

What Sume documents

Sume's video generation docs list wan-3.0 with 2 to 30 second durations. I searched the docs for a watermark option on the public video API and found none, so there is no field to pass that maps to Alibaba's watermark. What the docs do say is that the metadata field is stored on the job and is not sent to the provider.

I did not find documentation of what Alibaba's default produces when Sume calls it. Do not assume a visible mark is there or absent; check the output.

What to do

Generate one 2-second clip first, since Sume's docs allow wan-3.0 from 2 seconds, and watch it full screen for a corner mark. Run ffprobe on the file and look at its tags. Then decide how you will disclose: with no mark guaranteed by the API, disclosure belongs in your caption, in the platform's own AI toggle, or in burned-in text.

If an ad platform needs a visible label, add it yourself. The same applies to any model where the vendor mark is optional: the vendor's default is a vendor choice, not a legal answer.

Keep the Sume job id with the file. For more on credentials, see Does Sume add C2PA or a watermark to AI video.

Sume's docs describe a metadata field on video, image and music jobs that Sume stores on the job and does not send to the provider. I found nothing in the docs about Sume adding, keeping or removing C2PA credentials, watermarks or platform labels, so treat that as undocumented and check the delivered file.
