Instagram Reels are reported to run up to 3 minutes now (reported by NapoleonCat, read 2026-10-07). MiniMax H3 on Sume caps a clip at 15 seconds, so a full-length Reel is 12 clips. Twelve is also the single-render slot limit on the timeline, so one render call covers it.

Prices are Sume billable rates (provider list x 1.25, rounded up to the cent per job), read 2026-10-07.

The math

At 768p, H3 bills $0.075 a second. A 15-second clip is therefore $1.13 (1.125 rounded up). Twelve clips are $13.56. A 3-minute timeline render is $0.10 per output minute rounded up, so $0.30.

What to watch

H3 renders native stereo audio on every clip with no toggle, so each of the 12 clips carries its own sound. If you want one continuous bed instead, detach or replace the audio before the timeline render. At 480p the clip price is $0.94, and 12 clips come to $11.28.

  • Submit each clip with its own Idempotency-Key so a retry does not pay twice.
  • Funds are reserved at submit and captured on completion, so keep a balance above the reserve for all 12 jobs if you submit them together.
  • Check GET /v1/videos/models for the live limits before a batch.

Reserve check in plain Python, runnable as is:

from decimal import Decimal as D, ROUND_CEILING
def cents(x):
    return (x*100).to_integral_value(ROUND_CEILING)/100
clip = cents(D('0.075')*15)
total = clip*12 + cents(D('0.10')*3)
print(clip, total)
