Ten 20 second avatar answers cost $36.80 on the standard tier, $49.00 on plus and $110.00 on max. That is a ready-made shelf for a TikTok Story Highlight, which, per Metricool's news roundup, lets users organise stories into collections.

Highlights are a place for evergreen answers that new visitors can browse, such as shipping times, how it works or a first-use tip. You write the ten questions; one avatar answers all of them in one voice and look.

Cost table

Avatar jobs are billed per second at 720p, so ten clips at 20 seconds is 200 seconds of output. Quality tier changes the rate. The numbers come from the avatar video docs.

10 clips x 20 s, no product (as of 2026-10-03)
TierPer secondPer 20 s clipTen clips
standard$0.184$3.68$36.80
plus$0.245$4.90$49.00
max$0.55$11.00$110.00

Format the clips for a Highlight

Stories are vertical, and the default avatar aspect ratio is 9:16. Other ratios supported are 1:1, 3:4, 4:3 and 16:9, so keep the default. Keep each answer to a single sentence pair so it fits 20 seconds without rushing.

  • One question per clip, with the question as the first spoken line.
  • One script, 45 to 55 words, for a 20 second read. Test one clip before you queue ten.
  • Use the preview of the first frame if you need to approve the look before paying for the full video.
  • Burn captions in with video captions at $0.20 per job for videos up to 60 seconds. For ten clips that adds $2.00.

Batch it safely

Each avatar video write needs an Idempotency-Key, so give every clip its own key built from the question number. If a network call fails, resend with the same key instead of creating a second paid job. Jobs run async by default; collect the ids and read each result when it completes.

What Sume does not do

Sume makes the clips. It does not create the Highlight or post to TikTok, so upload the files yourself. Highlights themselves are only described in the Metricool roundup; check TikTok for how many stories one can hold.
