Text to speech commercial use: what the terms allow

Whether you can use text to speech audio commercially is decided by the terms of the tool you generate it with and the plan you are on, not by the voice model. Sume's terms say Sume does not claim ownership of generated outputs and that paid plans include commercial use, and they make you responsible for having permission for any voice you submit.

What do Sume's terms say about commercial use?

Can I use free text to speech for commercial use?

Check the plan, not just the tool. Sume's terms tie commercial use to paid plans "as described on the pricing page", so read that page for the plan you are on before you publish.

Can I use a cloned voice in an ad?

Under Sume's terms, only with permission from the person whose voice it is. The terms ask you to represent that you have permission to use any person's voice you submit, and the acceptable-use rules say not to submit voices you do not have permission to use. That applies to the audio you clone from, not only to the finished ad.

• Cloning is done in the Sume app (Assets → Voices, from an upload or a recording). The API then takes the clone's voi_ id as voice.id.
• Or send an avatar's avatar_id or avatar_handle, and Sume resolves that avatar's voice. The same permission rule covers any avatar you created from a real person.

What should I check before an AI voiceover ships?

• Your plan includes commercial use, per the pricing page.
• You have permission for every voice and likeness you submitted, and the rights to the script.
• Someone has listened to the final audio. The terms call outputs synthetic and say they may be inaccurate, unexpected, or unsuitable for a particular use.
• Nothing in the ad presents the voice as a real person's endorsement they didn't give.
• The platform's own rules on AI content; YouTube's AI content policy is one example.
