Ten scripts of 2,000 characters each are 20,000 characters. On ElevenLabs' sale price for Eleven v4 that is $0.44, at list it is $1.60, and on Sume TTS it is $1.00, because each 2,000-character job bills 10 cents.

So Sume sits between the sale price and the list price. The sale ends October 12, so whether the sale price matters depends on when you run the batch.

The rates

ElevenLabs lists its API prices per 1,000 characters. Sume's rate is $0.0475 per 1,000 characters, rounded up to the cent per job.

Eleven v4 Turbo, list price$0.04$0.80
Sume TTS 1.0$0.0475, billed per job$1.00 (ten jobs at $0.10)

How the Sume figure is built

One 2,000-character job costs 2,000 times $0.0000475, which is $0.095. Sume rounds each job up to the cent, so it bills $0.10. Ten jobs is $1.00. One 20,000-character job would be $0.95, but a single file is only useful if you want one long read, since the request maximum is 20,000 characters and audio over 1,200 seconds fails.

What the comparison leaves out

Price per character is one axis. Check the rest before you move work.

  • Voices: Sume TTS takes Sume voice ids or avatar references, so your ElevenLabs voice names will not carry over.
  • Sale terms: the sale price applies only until October 12, and the page lists a different price after.
  • Turbo is a different model. The cheaper row is not the same output.
  • Quality is a listening test. Generate one script on each and compare before you decide.

When to pick which

If you have a large batch to run before October 12 and you like the Eleven v4 voice, the sale price is the cheapest line in the table. After the sale, or if you are already generating video and captions on Sume, the 10 cents per 2,000 characters is cheaper than list and keeps everything in one bill. Rerun the table with your real script lengths, because the per-job rounding changes the result for short lines.
