Taboola Realize video ad specs: 15 s motion ad vs 90 s video

Realize (Taboola) lists a 15-second motion ad and a video spec of 6 to 30 s, 90 s max. The sizes, files and how to cut a product clip for each with Sume.

Realize, whose help center points advertisers to Taboola Trends, lists two different video products on one help page. A motion ad is an MP4, MOV or GIF of at most 15 seconds, 16:9, up to 50 MB (5 MB for a GIF), at 1067x600. A video ad is MP4 or MOV, 16:9, 4:3 or 1:1, up to 50 MB, at a bitrate of 2500 kbps or more, with a preferred length of 6 to 30 seconds and a 90-second maximum. Sume can cut and conform a product clip to either; this post shows which settings map to which line.

What are the two specs side by side?

The page also gives text limits for motion ads: a headline of 34 to 45 characters is best with 60 as the maximum, branding text up to 30 characters, and a description of 180 to 200 characters with 250 as the maximum.

Why does the page say both 15 and 90 seconds?

They belong to different ad types, but the page also adds a tip to keep videos under 15 seconds to hold attention. Read it as three numbers: 15 seconds is the hard cap for motion ads, 30 seconds is the top of the preferred range for video, and 90 seconds is the video maximum. If you are unsure which product your account uses, cut the 15-second version first, since it also meets the video spec's preferred range of 6 to 30 seconds.

The page states a few best practices that affect the cut: add subtitles for sound-off viewing, place a call to action after 3 to 5 seconds, and use 16:9 for desktop and 1:1 for mobile.

How do you cut and conform the clip with Sume?

Video trim takes start and exactly one of end or duration (0.2 to 900 seconds), so a 15-second cut is "duration": 15. With precision: "exact" you can add output to conform width, height (each 256 to 2160) and fps (24, 25, 30 or 60). Use it to match the aspect ratio: 1280x720 is 16:9, 1080x1080 is 1:1.

Trim does not expose a bitrate or file-size control; the docs list only precision, audio and output. A short 720p clip is likely to be well under 50 MB, but you should check the file and the 2500 kbps floor yourself. If the clip needs generating first, the Video Router Auto controls give 3 to 10 second clips at 16:9 or 9:16, and seedance-2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds.

    "start": 0,
    "duration": 15,
    "output": { "width": 1280, "height": 720, "fps": 30 }
  }'

What about the thumbnail and the odd 1067x600?

The page asks for a fallback image for a motion ad: a clear shot from the video that carries the key message. A video frames call with at set to a time inside the clip returns a still at the clip's size. For the 1067x600 resolution, which has an odd width, I would confirm in Realize's uploader whether a 16:9 file at another size is accepted, rather than force the exact number. The trim docs accept any width from 256 to 2160, but whether Realize accepts it is its decision.
