Super Saturday 2026 gift video: a 9:16 clip from one product photo
Super Saturday 2026 is Dec 19, the last Saturday before Dec 25. Make a vertical gift clip from one product photo with Seedance first_frame, then add cues.

Super Saturday is what the National Retail Federation calls the final Saturday before December 25, which in 2026 is Saturday, December 19, five days before Christmas Eve. If you sell gifts, the production step is small: one product photo becomes a 9:16 clip with Seedance image-to-video, and a caption job puts your offer and cutoff on top. Sume does that part; the offer and the shipping promise are yours.
NRF's December 15, 2025 press release describes the day as "the final Saturday before Dec. 25" and "a significant shopping event for both consumers and retailers".
What NRF's last survey said
NRF's 2025 release estimated 158.9 million consumers planned to shop on Super Saturday, up from 157.2 million in 2024 and above the earlier record of 158.5 million in 2022. These are 2025 survey figures, not a 2026 forecast; The release read on 2026-10-03 covers 2025. Treat them as scale, not as a target for your store.
| Year | Consumers planning to shop |
|---|---|
| 2022 (record at the time) | 158.5 million |
| 2024 | 157.2 million |
| 2025 | 158.9 million |
Step 1: photo to a 6-second vertical clip
POST /v1/videos with frame_images and frame_type first_frame starts the clip from your real photo, which keeps the product recognisable. seedance-2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p. If you send both frame_images and input_references, frame_images wins. Sume reserves the price on submit at provider list times 1.25; check GET /v1/videos/models for the live rate before a batch.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/videos \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: super-saturday-clip-001" \
-d '{
"model": "seedance-2.5",
"prompt": "Slow push-in on the gift box, ribbon catches the light, no text",
"duration": 6,
"resolution": "720p",
"aspect_ratio": "9:16",
"frame_images": [{
"type": "image_url",
"image_url": {"url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/example/gift-box.png"},
"frame_type": "first_frame"
}]
}'Step 2: the offer, as cues
Then run the finished video through POST /v1/video-captions with cues such as "LAST-MINUTE GIFTS" and "ORDER BY DEC 17 FOR GROUND" (use the cutoff your carrier gives you). Cues skip speech-to-text, so a silent generated clip works, at $0.20 for videos up to 60 seconds. Start with the clip generated with no text in the prompt: the caption job draws the type, so it stays exact.
The photo route is also covered in Product photo to video API. Seedance is image-to-video, so expect motion you did not storyboard. Watch the take before it goes live, especially if packaging text is in frame.
Limits
Sume does not run your sale, set a discount or promise delivery. Super Saturday is a retail convention, not a legal date: the shipping and price claims on screen must be true for your store.
