Suno v6 change one lyric: what Sume Music does instead
Suno v6 can swap one lyric or line and keep the rest. Sume Music is brief-driven and documents no lyric editing, so you edit the brief and generate a new track.

Suno's v6 release notes say you can update a single lyric without rebuilding the whole song: change one word or line and the rest stays intact. Sume Music documents no lyric field: its brief guidance closes with "Instrumental, no vocals." To change a track you edit the text brief and generate a new one.
Suno facts are from its v6 release notes; Sume facts from the Music 1.0 docs and the OpenAPI document, read 2026-10-01.
What does Suno v6 say about changing one lyric?
The release notes give the example "Change the lyric from 'love' to 'light.'" and say v6 changes one word or line while leaving the rest intact. They also say v6 and v6-wild are available only to paid users. The page does not describe an API for this, so treat it as a product feature of Suno's own app.
Does Sume Music have lyrics to edit?
No. The OpenAPI description for the Music prompt asks for a per-scene brief covering emotion, genre, a BPM number, key and mode, lead instruments, one named arc moment and era, then the closing line "Instrumental, no vocals." The docs describe no lyric field and no way to patch a sung line in an existing track, so check the output yourself if you want vocals.
How do I change a Sume track then?
Change the brief and run again. The docs describe a text prompt with optional image conditioning and no seed, temperature, guidance or duration parameter, so a re-run is a new generation, not an in-place edit. Exclusions go in the positive prompt, for example "no vocals, no spoken word". The prompt also says not to include duration or duration_seconds. See Suno v6: edit part of a song for the section-level version of this question.
What does each approach look like side by side?
| Question | Suno v6 (release notes) | Sume Music (docs) |
|---|---|---|
| Change one lyric | Yes, one word or line, rest intact | No lyric field documented; briefs close with instrumental |
| How you steer | Text instruction on the existing song | Edit the brief, generate again |
| Duration control | Not stated on the page | No duration field |
| Price | Paid plans for v6 | Fixed $0.125 USD per accepted Music 1.0 generation |
How much does a re-roll cost?
The Music 1.0 page lists a fixed $0.125 USD per accepted generation, independent of prompt length or optional image conditioning. Music 1.0 is marked as retiring and resolves through the Music Router; the rate card currently lists music generation at $0.125 per audio. Iterating on a brief means paying per attempt.
