Suno MCP: making music from Claude, and what Sume's MCP has

Sume's docs do not describe a Suno MCP server, so nothing here shows Suno v6 (announced on Suno's blog on 2026-09-09) working inside Claude through Sume. What Sume's hosted MCP does list is a music_create tool that makes music, which the Music Router runs on Lyria; this post is about that tool and the rule that trips people up, idempotency_key.

Is there a Suno tool in Sume's MCP?

No. The paid generation tools in Sume's MCP docs are generate_image, generate_video, music_create, tts_create and others; none is Suno-specific. Any Suno MCP server you find elsewhere is a separate thing, run and supported by whoever publishes it, and its terms are its own.

What does music_create do?

It is one of the paid generation tools. The docs say to omit payload.model to route to sume/auto unless the user named a family. For music the routable engines are the Music Router's sume/music-auto, lyria-3.5 and lyria-3-pro, with sume/music-auto resolving to Lyria 3.5 today. Ask Claude for a model by name only if you mean one of those ids.

Why did my music call fail with a missing key?

Give it a scene-specific brief instead of just a genre. The Music docs describe seven axes: emotion, genre, tempo as a number, key and mode, two to four instruments with texture, an arc with one named moment, and era or production. They call these creative directions, not guaranteed output settings, so listen to the result. Close with a clause such as instrumental, no vocals when you do not want singing.
