Sume vs Kling: Kling's own apps and API, or Kling 3.0 through Sume

Kling is both a model family and a product: Kling AI sells its own web and desktop apps, mobile apps, and a developer API priced per second. Sume is a video agent platform that offers Kling 3.0 as one model among several: kling-3 in its video catalog, and Kling 3.0 Motion Control as its own endpoint. So the real question is whether to call Kling directly or through Sume.

What is Kling AI?

Kling describes its product as a way to “create high-quality AI videos and images … in one studio”. Its developer site offers the same models “through enterprise APIs”.

• Apps: Kling's homepage links apps for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.
• API: a Bearer API key, with https://api-singapore.klingai.com as the endpoint for servers outside China (authentication). Video tasks are asynchronous; a callback_url gets notified when a task changes status, and callbacks can be signed (callbacks).
• Coding agents: the Kling AI Skill works with “Openclaw, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot and Opencode.”
• Ready-made agents: an Agent Market of “ready-to-use AI creative agents.”
• Models: Kling 3.0 Turbo, 3.0, 3.0 Omni, O1, 2.6, and 2.5 Turbo on the API. Kling 3.0 makes 3–15 second clips at 720P, 1080P, or 4K, and avatar and lip-sync work on all model versions (capability map).

Can I use Kling models through Sume?

Yes. Send model: "kling-3" to Sume's OpenRouter-compatible POST /v1/videos, or let sume/auto choose among families. Sume's video docs say that, apart from the models they call out by name, catalog models top out at 15 seconds per clip.

Kling 3.0 Motion Control has its own Sume endpoint, POST /v1/kling/3.0/motion-control, at $0.1575 per output second before the 5.5% agent fee. The public catalog describes it as 1–30 seconds, with the output length following the driving motion video.

What does Kling cost, and what does Sume charge for it?

Kling's API is prepaid in units, where “1 Unit = $0.14 (list price)”; packages start at $700 for 5,000 units with 180-day validity, and a trial package is $9.80 for 100 units.

• Kling's consumer plans renew at $8.80 (Standard, 660 credits), $32.56 (Pro, 3,000), $80.96 (Premier, 8,000), and $159.99 (Ultra, 26,000) per month after a first-month offer, and there is a free Basic plan (membership plans).
• On Sume, kling-3 is billed at the provider's list price × 1.25 plus the 5.5% agent fee, from the same wallet as every other model; Motion Control is $0.1575 per output second plus the fee. Exact per-model rates are in the catalog and on API pricing.

Should I call Kling directly or through Sume?

Both are reasonable, and they answer different needs.

• Call Kling directly if Kling is the only model family you need and you want Kling's own per-second prices, unit packages, and apps.
• Use Sume if Kling is one of several models in the job: one API key, one wallet, and one job format across Kling, Seedance, Wan, MiniMax, Gemini, and Grok video, plus Avatar 1.0, voice, and timeline assembly.
• Use Sume if you want an agent to plan the video and then save the recipe as a Format your backend runs with an idempotency key, a spend cap, and an optional webhook.
