Sume BGM catalog: which tracks need a credit line and which do not
Sume's own BGM loops need no third-party credit. The licensed km tracks are CC BY 4.0 and need the Kevin MacLeod credit on every public export.

Sume's catalog has two layers. The 48 first-party loops are sume-original, Sume-owned synthesis with no third-party credit needed. The newer bgm_km_* beds are Kevin MacLeod tracks under CC BY 4.0, so every public export that uses one must carry the credit. The km in the id is your signal.
The two layers
Existing first-party ids and slugs do not change, so anything that already stores bgm_premium_corporate keeps working. New beds are additive.
| Layer | Ids | License | Hosting |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-party Sume loops | bgm_premium_corporate, bgm_home_cafe_warm and others (48 ids) | sume-original | https://media.sume.com/assets/bgm/{slug}.mp3, bytes verified before the catalog URL ships |
| Licensed beds | bgm_km_* or km-* | CC BY 4.0, Kevin MacLeod | Hosted by the author at incompetech.com; Sume does not mirror them |
The credit line
Each licensed row stores attribution, source_name and source_url. The Assets player shows the credit on now-playing. The short form in the catalog field is Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) — CC BY 4.0.
The repo asks for the full three-line credit on any public export, caption card or published video that uses a km-* bed:
Music: [track name] by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Using a bed in a render
The agent tools are bgm_list, bgm_get and bgm_pick. In a Timeline 1.0 document the bed goes in soundtrack with url, gain_db, loop, fade_out_seconds (up to 10) and duck_db (0 to 20, which needs a real audio spine, not silence).
If your video must pass a Format's output provenance, the catalog choice alone does not give it. The docs say to use Timeline audio to produce a run-owned file.
When a licensed URL breaks
The licensed MP3s are author-hosted. If one returns 404, pick a different id or omit the soundtrack. Do not copy the audio onto the Sume media host yourself without a decision about hosting.
A simple rule for a team: put the km check in your publish step. If the soundtrack id contains km, append the credit to the caption or description before you post.
