Sora 2 API removed: a 12-second 720p clip is $1.50 to $6.94 on Sume
OpenAI removed the Videos API and sora-2 on 2026-09-24. On Sume a 12 s 720p clip is $1.50 (Wan 3.0) to $6.94 (Seedance 2.5); 100 clips $150.00 to $694.00.

The short answer
OpenAI removed its Videos API and the sora-2 family on 2026-09-24 and lists no replacement. If you need a replacement for 12-second 720p clips, Sume prices them from $1.50 (Wan 3.0) to $6.94 (Seedance 2.5) each, so 100 clips cost $150.00 to $694.00. This page prices Sume only; it makes no claim about what Sora cost.
The OpenAI deprecations page (read 2026-10-08) says developers were notified on 2026-03-24 and the Videos API, sora-2, sora-2-pro, sora-2-2025-10-06, sora-2-2025-12-08 and sora-2-pro-2025-10-06 were removed on 2026-09-24.
A 12-second 720p clip on Sume
Sume bills the provider list price times 1.25, rounded up to whole cents for each job (the catalog formula reads "list x 1.25, ceil usd cents"). The amounts below come from that formula, applied to the catalog as of 2026-10-08.
| Model | One clip | 100 clips |
|---|---|---|
| Wan 3.0 | $1.50 | $150.00 |
| Kling 3 (mute) | $1.68 | $168.00 |
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | $2.27 | $227.00 |
| Kling 3 (audio) | $2.52 | $252.00 |
| Seedance 2.0 Fast | $3.63 | $363.00 |
| Seedance 2.0 | $4.54 | $454.00 |
| Seedance 2.5 | $6.94 | $694.00 |
Moving the call
Sume exposes /v1/videos with an OpenRouter-faithful wire. You submit with POST /v1/videos, poll the returned polling_url, and download unsigned_urls[0]. Treat it as a different API, not a drop-in for OpenAI's: model ids, fields and limits are Sume's own. Read GET /v1/videos/models for each model's capabilities before you port a job.
Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 reaches only 10 seconds, so it cannot make a 12 s clip in one job. Wan 3.0 accepts 2 to 30 seconds, and Seedance 2.5 accepts 4 to 30.
What changes besides the price
The removal notice lists no replacement, so any migration is a rewrite of the call and a new look at limits. On Sume the clip length and resolution come from the model catalog, and the price follows them. For the same 12 seconds at 1080p, Wan 3.0 is $3.00 and Seedance 2.5 is $17.06; at 480p they are $0.75 and $3.23. Pick the resolution first, then the model.
Arithmetic and a budget
Wan 3.0 at 720p lists $0.10 per second: $0.10 x 12 = $1.20; x 1.25 = $1.50. Kling 3 without audio lists $0.112: $1.344 x 1.25 = $1.68. With audio on it is $0.168 per second, so $2.016 x 1.25 = $2.52. Seedance rows are token-priced and come from the catalog.
A migration test of 20 clips on each of three models costs 20 x ($1.50 + $3.63 + $6.94) = $241.40. See Video generation for the fields.
