Sora 2 API pricing: per-second rates and the shutdown
OpenAI priced the Sora 2 API per second: $0.10 for Sora 2, $0.30–$0.70 for Sora 2 Pro. The API shut down on September 24, 2026. What a clip costs now.
Sora 2 API pricing was per second of video: OpenAI listed Sora 2 at $0.10 a second and Sora 2 Pro at $0.30, $0.50 or $0.70 a second depending on the output size, so an 8-second Sora 2 clip was $0.80. Those prices no longer buy anything, because OpenAI shut down the Sora 2 models and its Videos API on September 24, 2026.
OpenAI's figures come from its Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro model pages, which still show them, read 2026-09-28. For a same-length clip today, the second table prices models you can still call through Sume's API, from its pricing code and the Video generation docs.
How much did a Sora 2 clip cost?
The per-second price times the clip length. OpenAI's API reference allowed 4, 8 or 12 seconds, defaulting to 4; its guide also mentions 16 and 20 seconds, which the reference does not list.

Does Sora still have an API?
No. OpenAI's deprecations page lists the Videos API, sora-2, sora-2-pro and their snapshots with a shutdown date of 2026-09-24 and no recommended replacement. Its help article dates the end of the Sora web and app experiences to April 26, 2026, and says purchased ChatGPT/Sora credits can still be used for Codex.

What does a same-length clip cost now?
Here is an 8-second clip, one of the lengths Sora 2 allowed, on each model in Sume's catalog that takes 8 seconds. Sume bills the provider's list price × 1.25, reserved from your balance on submit, plus a 5.5% agent fee by default; the job's usage.cost is the billed amount.

What else changes the price?
- Resolution:
wan-3.0, the MiniMax models, Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 and the Seedance ids charge more per second at higher resolutions, as Sora 2 Pro did;kling-3andgrok-imagine-video-1.5do not. Sendresolutionexplicitly; with none,wan-3.0reserves at its 1080p rate in current code. - Sound:
kling-3charges more with sound, and a request withoutgenerate_audio: falsegets it by default. The two MiniMax models and Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 always include sound. - Length: a longer clip costs proportionally more.
