Shortest Sume TTS job: a 1 cent minimum and a 95 cent ceiling
Sume TTS costs $0.0475 per 1,000 characters, 1 cent minimum, 95 cents for 20,000. Cost by length, and why 100 short lines cost more than one job.

Sume TTS 1.0 is priced at $0.0475 per 1,000 characters. The catalog sets a minimum charge of 1 cent per request and a maximum of 95 cents, which is the price of a full 20,000-character request. Spaces and punctuation count as characters.

| 211 | $0.01002 | $0.02 |
| 500 | $0.02375 | $0.03 |
| 1,000 | $0.0475 | $0.05 |
| 5,000 | $0.2375 | $0.24 |
| 20,000 | $0.95 | $0.95 |
The rounding catch
Rounding is per job. 100 voice lines of 50 characters each, submitted as 100 jobs, bill $1.00. The same 5,000 characters in one job bill $0.24. If you need separate files, ask for sentence segments from one job (wav container, timestamps.words true) instead of submitting every line alone.
When separate jobs still win
One job per line is simpler when lines change at different times: a game with 400 lines where a writer edits a few each week re-renders only the edited ones. Batch when the text is stable, and keep one job per line when it is not.
- Stable narration: one job with sentence segments.
- Frequently edited lines: one job per line, with an idempotency key derived from the text.
- Unknown future edits: start with per-line jobs and consolidate for the final render.
