Shortest AI video clip each Sume model accepts: 2 s Wan to 5 s H3
Wan 3.0 accepts 2 seconds, Gemini Omni 3, Seedance and Kling 4, MiniMax H3 5. How to get a shorter cut when the model's minimum is too long.

The shortest clip you can request on Sume is 2 seconds, on wan-3.0. gemini-omni-flash-1.1 accepts 3 seconds, seedance-2.5, seedance-2, kling-3 and grok-imagine-video-1.5 accept 4, and minimax-h3 and minimax-h3-max accept 5. If you need a 3-second bumper from a model with a 4-second floor, generate 4 seconds and trim.
Minimums come from the Video Router docs and the Video generation docs, read 2026-10-02. The trim step comes from the Video trim docs.
What is the minimum duration for each model?
Clip length is an integer number of seconds. A request below the model's floor returns a 400 rather than rounding up, so check the table before you script a batch of short clips.
| Sume id | Shortest | Longest |
|---|---|---|
wan-3.0 | 2 s | 30 s |
gemini-omni-flash-1.1 | 3 s | 10 s |
seedance-2.5 | 4 s | 30 s |
seedance-2, kling-3, grok-imagine-video-1.5 | 4 s | 15 s |
minimax-h3, minimax-h3-max | 5 s | 15 s |
How do I get a 3-second clip from a 4-second minimum?
Generate the shortest legal clip, then cut the range you want. Video trim takes one Sume-hosted clip plus a start and either end or duration and returns a new MP4 holding only that range; the source is untouched. Sume's public rate for a trim is $0.02 per job, to be confirmed live in GET /v1/catalog.
The trim input must be a media.sume.com artifact from your workspace. If the clip lives elsewhere, import it first with POST /v1/media-imports.
When is a short clip worth a different model?
Pay for the 4-second minimum only if the model is the right one for the shot. If a 2-second beat is all you need, wan-3.0 is the only catalog id that accepts it directly. For Sume's Auto router, the Video generation docs give 3-10 s as the create range, with 720p and 8 s as defaults.
Related limits are in AI video length limits by model and Wan 3.0 two-second clips.
For a batch of short bumpers, pick the model first, then the length: if all clips are 4 seconds or longer, seedance-2.5 gives you the same envelope you would use for 30-second work, so one script covers both.
