Seedance missing from the Sume Videos panel picker: what to do
The Videos panel picker lists Auto, Video 1.0, Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0, MiniMax and Grok. Seedance runs through the API by id, or through Auto.

Why can't I pick Seedance in the Sume Videos panel?
Because the panel's model list does not include a Seedance entry. In the current web code the Agents Video panel offers Auto, Sume Video 1.0 (marked retiring soon), Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3, MiniMax H3 Max and Grok Imagine. The four Seedance ids in the API catalog (seedance-2.5, seedance-2, seedance-2-fast, seedance-2-mini) are not panel choices.
That is a statement about the panel, not about availability. The Seedance rows are live in the video catalog and you can pin any of them in a request.
What happens to a saved Seedance choice?
The panel stores your last controls in the browser. If an older saved value names seedance-2, seedance-2-mini or seedance-2-fast, the code treats it as a retired id and maps it to Sume Video 1.0, which is the Auto pipe. So a returning user may see a model other than the one they remember.
Auto does not tell you which family served a request. The poll response reports sume/auto, and the docs say not to infer the family from the output. If you must have Seedance, do not rely on Auto; pin the id.
How do I run Seedance on purpose?
Send the catalog id to POST /v1/videos. The id is bare, with no provider prefix. Limits differ by row, so read them from the catalog.
The table lists what the four rows accept, from the model cards in the repo.
| Model id | Duration | Resolutions | Typical latency label |
|---|---|---|---|
| seedance-2.5 | 4 to 30 s | 480p, 720p, 1080p | medium |
| seedance-2 | 4 to 15 s | 480p, 720p, 1080p | medium |
| seedance-2-fast | 4 to 15 s | 480p, 720p, 1080p | fast |
| seedance-2-mini | 4 to 15 s | 480p, 720p, 1080p | fast |
curl -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/videos" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"model": "seedance-2.5",
"prompt": "A vertical product clip on a desk, natural light",
"duration": 8,
"resolution": "720p",
"aspect_ratio": "9:16"
}'When is the panel still the right tool?
Use it when a Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0 or MiniMax clip is what you want and you prefer controls to JSON, or when Auto's 3 to 10 second default at 720p is fine for a quick draft. Switching the model in the panel also resets resolution, aspect ratio, duration and audio to values the new model allows; see the model switch behavior.
For a 30 second Seedance 2.5 clip, a pinned reproducible comparison, or a Seedance reference video, use the API. The panel does not expose them, and Sume does not claim it will mirror every catalog row.
How do I check the catalog before building on this?
Call GET /v1/videos/models and diff the ids against your code. A new model id in the catalog is not automatically in the panel, and a panel entry can lag the API. Pin ids you depend on, and treat Auto as a convenience for drafts, as discussed in pinning a video model id.
