Restyle last year's holiday clip with the Sume restyle Format
Reuse a holiday video you own with a new look. The Sume restyle Format keeps motion and cuts and changes the style; it does not swap a person or product.

If you own a holiday clip that performed well, sume-restyle gives it a new look without a new shoot. The Format keeps the same motion and cuts and changes the visual style from a prompt or style references. It is not for swapping a person or a product, or for remaking the video. If you need a different product in the same shot, use a different route.
What is restyle for, exactly?
Confirm the input profile with GET /v1/formats/sume/sume-restyle before you build a call. The Format's app UI sits behind a feature flag, so check that the entry returns for your account before you plan around it.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Slug | sume-restyle, at the sume handle |
| Takes | A clip the user owns |
| Keeps | The same motion and cuts |
| Changes | The visual look: art style, grade, from a prompt or style references |
| Not for | Swapping a person or product, or a remake |
How do I run it?
Put the clip URL in input; media URLs in input share the run's attachment budget. Use a public HTTPS URL, or a media.sume.com URL after POST /v1/media-imports. Add style references as attachments (up to 30 images). Describe the target look in instruction. The video_url key in the example is illustrative; use the key name the Format's input profile shows.
Keep your spend limit explicit with generation_spend_cap_usd, which accepts a value up to the platform maximum of $500. Sume rejects 0.
curl -sS -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/formats/sume/sume-restyle/runs" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: holiday-2025-restyle-v1" \
-d '{
"instruction": "Keep every cut and camera move. New look: warm film grain, deep green and gold, snowy evening grade.",
"input": { "video_url": "https://cdn.example.com/holiday-2025-ad.mp4" },
"generation_spend_cap_usd": 20
}'What should I check afterwards?
Check that the product, the logo and any text still look right. A style change can soften small print. Pull stills at the moments where text shows with video frames and compare them with the original.
Also check the offer. A clip from last year may still carry last year's dates, prices or claims. Restyle does not update them, so cut or replace those shots first.
When should I choose something else?
Restyle changes the look and keeps the content. When you need to change what is in the shot, you need a different route.
- To rebuild the idea with a new presenter and new footage, use the recreate Format (
sume-recreate). - To change a few seconds, trim the clip first with Video trim.
- To change the aspect ratio only, crop or pad with Video filter.
- To remake the idea from scratch, brief a new run.
How do I read the receipt?
The run returns a receipt with primary_output_url and artifacts. Compare the first and last frame with the original clip before it goes into an ad.
