Podcast video episode over 30 minutes: Sume's 1800-second source limit
Sume video trim, audio detach and video inspect all cap a source clip at 1,800 seconds. A 45-minute podcast video must be split before you import it.

Sume's video trim, audio detach and video inspect all refuse a source longer than 1,800 seconds, which is 30 minutes. A 45-minute podcast video has to be split into pieces under 30 minutes before the clip tools can see it. Once you have a clip, a trim costs $0.02 and a standalone caption job costs $0.20.
Limits per tool
These numbers come from the docs pages for each route. They decide how you slice a long episode.
| Tool | Source limit | Output limit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Video trim | 1,800 s | 900 s per cut | $0.02 per job |
| Audio detach | 1,800 s | 900 s (use range for longer) | $0.01 per job |
| Video inspect | 1,800 s | 24 stills per call | $0.01 per audio minute for the transcript |
| Video filter | 300 s | keeps source geometry | $0.02 per job |
| Video captions | public HTTPS URL | priced for up to 60 s | $0.20 per job |
A five-clip highlight reel
Say you pick five 45-second moments out of a 28-minute half. Five trims at $0.02 and five caption jobs at $0.20 come to $1.10, and a transcript of the 28 minutes at $0.01 per audio minute is $0.28. A trim keeps audio by default, so the clip stays usable for captions.

- A source over 1,800 seconds fails with
source_duration_exceededat the worker. - The transcript hint
duration_secondsis capped at 600; without it Sume reserves one minute. precision: keyframecan start a GOP early; re-base times fromactual_start_seconds.- The clip must already be a
media.sume.comartifact of your workspace; off-host URLs are refused.

- Read probe width, height and rotation before 9:16 crop fractions
A 9:16 crop needs width = 9/16 x H / W: 0.3164 for 1920x1080 but 0.5625 for a square clip. Read the probe first, and swap W and H if it reports rotation.
- Reels ads ban edit lists and special boxes: check your MP4
Meta's Reels ad spec bars edit lists and special boxes and asks for H.264, fixed frame rate and stereo AAC. What a Sume probe can and cannot show.
- Reframe 16:9 to 9:16 before you burn captions, not after
Crop a 16:9 clip to 9:16 with video-filter (width 0.3164, x 0.3418), then caption. Order trim, crop, caption: $0.02 + $0.02 + $0.20 = $0.24.
- RMBG on a 512 px icon or a 4K photo: $0.0225 either way
Sume RMBG 1.0 charges $0.0225 per image and the catalog says the price does not vary by image size. A 1,000-image batch is $22.50 whatever the pixel counts.
