Performance Max: 15 vertical + 15 horizontal Omni clips, $56.40
Performance Max takes 15 videos per orientation and one vertical 10-60 s clip for Shorts. Thirty 10 s Omni 1080p clips cost $56.40 on Sume.

Google's Performance Max video requirements say you can add up to 15 videos per orientation (horizontal 16:9, square 1:1, vertical 9:16), and that one vertical video of 10 to 60 seconds is what makes an asset group eligible for YouTube Shorts (Google Ads Help, read 2026-10-05). Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 makes 16:9 and 9:16 in 3 to 10 seconds, so 15 vertical plus 15 horizontal 10-second clips at 1080p cost $56.40 on Sume.
The arithmetic
Omni 1080p lists at $0.15 per second and Sume bills list times 1.25 = $0.1875 per second, so a 10-second clip is $1.875, rounded up to $1.88. Thirty clips are 30 x $1.88 = $56.40. Google recommends 1080p, so this is the matching tier. A 10-second clip also meets the 10-second floor for the vertical Shorts-eligible asset.
Omni does not list a square ratio, so the 1:1 slot needs another model that reports 1:1 in supported_aspect_ratios. The Videos guide's seedance-2 catalog example lists it. Check GET /v1/videos/models for the current rows and prices before you add that line.
| Orientation | Google cap | Clips | Cost at $1.88 each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vertical 9:16 | 15 | 15 | $28.20 |
| Horizontal 16:9 | 15 | 15 | $28.20 |
| Square 1:1 | 15 | 0 (another model) | not priced here |
| Total, two orientations | 30 | $56.40 |
Prompt shape for the vertical set
Write one prompt per hook rather than per clip: a problem shot, a demo shot, a gift shot, a deadline shot. Reuse each across both orientations by changing only aspect_ratio, so you compare like with like. Keep a naming scheme (hook-orientation-length) so the asset group in Google Ads maps back to the Sume job.
Why fill fewer than the cap
The cap is a ceiling, not a target. A smaller set with distinct hooks usually tells you more than 45 near-duplicates, and a paid review pass costs more than the render. Start with the vertical set: that is the orientation Google ties to Shorts eligibility.
- Request
aspect_ratio: "9:16",resolution: "1080p",duration: 10for the vertical set. - Use
aspect_ratio: "16:9"for the horizontal set. - Google says videos need a YouTube channel, and offers a Google-managed house channel if you lack one, with limited analytics.
Format notes
The page lists MPG (MPEG-2 or MPEG-4) as the eligible format and says audio files such as MP3, WAV, or PCM are not accepted on YouTube. Sume video jobs return a video file, so check the file type you upload against the page. Rates change, so confirm the price rows on the date you render.
