Fix one detail in a Shorts episode: Omni Flash edit or re-roll?
Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 can edit an existing clip through video_url instead of regenerating it. A fresh 10-second re-roll at 720p costs $1.25 on Sume.

Use the edit mode when the shot is right and one thing is wrong, and re-roll when the whole take is wrong. A 10-second Omni Flash re-roll at 720p is $1.25 in Sume prices; the edit route is a video-to-video request on the same model.
The edit has rules a re-roll does not, so it is worth reading them before a batch depends on it.
How the edit differs
The Video Router docs describe the edit as video_to_video: you send a prompt and a video_url. resolution is optional and defaults to 720p. aspect_ratio is rejected because the output follows the source, and duration is not sent to the provider. A duration you give is only a hint for the cost reservation.
That last point is why this post does not quote an edit price. Read the reservation on your own response and the pricing page rather than assuming the re-roll rate.
| Question | Edit (video_url) | Re-roll |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps the shot | Yes, source length and framing | No, new take |
| Aspect ratio field | Rejected | Accepted: 16:9 or 9:16 |
| Duration field | Reserve hint only | 3 to 10 seconds |
| 720p cost per 10 s | Read the reservation | $1.25 |
| Best for | One wrong prop or color | Wrong blocking or tone |
A rule for the batch
Decide per beat. If the fault is a single object, edit. If it is the performance, re-roll with a sharper prompt and the same references from the continuity post. Keep the source clip URL, since the edit takes it as video_url.
Because each request is a separate job, nothing in an edit ties it to the original except the source you pass.
- Log the source clip with the edit prompt.
- Do not send
aspect_ratioon an edit.
Costs side by side for a six-beat episode
Take a one-minute episode of six 10-second beats at 720p. Generated from scratch it is $7.50. If two beats need a re-roll, add $2.50 for a total of $10.00. An edit pass on the same two beats is billed on its own estimate, which is why you read the reservation rather than guess.
Store the prompt, the references and the source URL with each beat, so that the next fix starts from a record and not from memory.
